Wheaton Weekend Planner: Coffee, Cars, Critters, Fitness, Trains and Art

Take a look at what's ahead in Wheaton this weekend.

There’s a ton of things going on in Wheaton this weekend that appeal to a variety of interests.


On Friday evening, there’s a vintage car and custom motorcycle show, and an all-animal expo on Saturday emphasizing reptiles, but also birds and exotic small mammals.


Also Saturday is Coffee with the Council at City Hall and the DuPage PADS Run/Walk.

Sunday offers activities for both train buffs and art aficionados, with the Wheaton Great Midwest Train Show and a time in the afternoon for residents to come down and sign the city’s new mural.

Saturday


  • 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. — French Market: Flowers, locally grown produce, jewelry, crafts and more at Main Street & Liberty Drive (just south of the railroad tracks).

  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — 1st Week Fall All-Animal Expo: Reptiles, birds, small exotic animals and more. At the DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 W Manchester Road, Wheaton.


  • Sunday


    • 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Wheaton Great Midwest Train Show: One of the world's largest train shows! Featuring HO scale, N scale, Lionel, O scale, G scale, American Flyer, hobby tools, die-cast vehicles, train whistles, scenery items and more. At the DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 W Manchester Road, Wheaton.

    • 1 to 4 p.m. — Come sign the Pearls of the Universe: This 70-foot mural celebrates Wheaton’s diversity, at 1026 E. College Ave. Residents are invited to come sign the mural. A second signing session is planned from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013.
