Wheaton College Faculty Recital Series: Deb Stevenson & Metropolis Oboe Quartet

The
Wheaton College Conservatory of Music presents Deb Stevenson and the Metropolis
Oboe Quartet in concert. The Metropolis Oboe Quartet invites you to join them
on an exciting journey through the greatest chamber music of all eras.
Aficionados and newcomers alike will experience music as never before in this
memorable display of high-caliber music complemented by the ensemble's energy
and love for what they do.

For
more than a decade, this talented group of musicians - Deb Stevenson, oboe and
English horn; Thomas Yang, violin; Rose Armbrust Griffin, viola; and Steven
Houser, cello - has been treating Chicagoland to stellar renditions of both
famous masterpieces and lesser-known gems. No Metropolis Oboe Quartet
experience is the same, with the close-knit group of musicians eager to share
their extensive musical knowledge with audience members via playful
conversations interspersed throughout the program. Classical music takes on new
life and meaning through these high energy performances filled with memorable
melodies and lush harmonies that redefine chamber music for a new age.

Stevenson
is a guest lecturer in oboe at Wheaton College. She has been a freelance oboist
in the Chicago area for over twenty years and is founder and oboist with the
Metropolis Quartet.
