DuPage Sheriff Wants Public to Help ID Human Remains At Herrick Lake

A recent analysis indicates the remains are that of a male between the ages of 45 and 65 years old, officials said. The remains were found in 2010.

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office needs your help to identify human remains that were found in 2010 at Herrick Lake.

A recent digital facial reconstruction indicates that the remains are that of a male, possible of Hispanic or Native American descent, between the ages of 45 and 65 years old. The remains were sent this past winter to FACES Labs at Louisiana State University for the digital work, the Sheriff's Office said on Monday.

Police did not know the sex or ethnicity of the remains when they were first found on April 13, 2010 at the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve in unincorporated Wheaton. The skull has a distinct teeth pattern, with top front missing teeth, as shown on one of the pictures on this page.

The man was possibly wearing a gray sweatshirt found at the scene with a logo on the left front that says Little Nicky. The sweatshirt is an extra-large Hanes brand, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

If anyone recognizes the deceased or has any information about him, please call the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations unit at 630-407-2400.

For more information regarding the found remains, go to namus.gov, click on Unidentified Persons and search case number M10-125.
