Kurt Wehrmeister, a resident of Geneva since 1964 and a 1975 graduate of Geneva Community High School, has been an editor, reporter (both in print and radio), columnist and communications professional for more than 35 years.  He earned a journalism degree from the University of Illinois in 1979, and his work has appeared in The Geneva Republican and Kane County Chronicle, as well as in national association magazines and trade publications.  His work has won awards from both the Illinois Press Association and the Northern Illinois Newspaper Association.

He has served on the Geneva Plan Commission and on the boards of the Geneva History Center, Geneva Community Chest and the Geneva Community High School Athletic Hall of Fame. For more than 30 years he served his alma mater of Geneva High as public-address announcer for both football and basketball, and in April 2010 he was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  In June 2011 Mayor Kevin Burns appointed him to a seat on the Historic Preservation Commission.

Since 1991 he has worked as Director of Communications & Public Affairs for Moose International and Mooseheart Child City & School--which includes serving as managing editor of the Moose organization's 850,000-circulation membership magazine, distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada.  He is the father of two adult sons.
