ReplyWhy doesn't the Park District and Library Board use the Village Board room and broadcast these meetings on the internet and cable? More than once I've heard a Village Trustee offer that huge room to other gov't bodies for this purpose.

Constant increases in property taxes reduces the value of property.
Look at Detroit. Property values spiraled downward out of control as the taxes were increased. Businesses will not invest in communities with high property taxes.

No one wants a Meijer's in Lisle. There was a referendum that voted it down.
Lisle residents don't like big box retail close to their homes. Also, keep in mind that at least half of Lisle is in Napervillle 203 schools and alot of those kids use Naperville school and municipal libraries.
People choose to live in Lisle for the schools and proximity to transportation, not because of the library. Another referendum for a $15M bond issue to build a new library will never pass.

Every single referendum to "invest" (i.e increase spending/increase taxes) in DuPage County FAILED in the last election.
The people have said "NO" to higher taxes and increased spending.
Lisle will also say "NO" (again) to a referendum to build a new library.
Lisle residents said "NO" in 2005 when the economy was much better.
People will say "NO" again.
It is a waste to purchase a home and take it off the tax rolls.
Let a developer buy it and increase our tax base.

HB 1522 passed the Senate and not one senator representing DuPage voted yes.
The bill passed because legislators who do not represent DuPage voted for it. Think about that.
Oberweis filed the amemdment to require a referendum for DuPage, but the amendment was "tabled" (why?) and the vote called.
