Warrenville resident writes in support of Leslie Coolidge for Congress. To send a letter to the editor, email Charlotte@patch.com.

Wheaton Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor emailed to Local Editor Charlotte Eriksen at Charlotte@patch.com, or sent as a message through the Wheaton Patch Facebook page. Please note in subject lines the message is a Letter to the Editor. ------------ A Letter to the Editor: Why has Peter Roskam refused to debate his challenger, Leslie Coolidge for the IL 6th congressional seat? Perhaps he can’t defend his record. A record of extreme ideology and partisan gridlock that was harmful to our economic recovery. A record of putting pledges to lobbyists (Grover Norquist) above duty to constituents.  Peter Roskam voted twice for the “Ryan Budget”. A draconian budget which cuts necessary programs, including veterans’ benefits and …

Last month, Patch partnered with the LWV to invite candidates in the Illinois 6th Congressional District race to a candidate forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at Palatine Village Hall. Patch, League of Women Voters Invite Roskam, Coolidge to Candidate Forum

Patch has partnered with the Palatine-area League of Women Voters to host a candidate forum for the 6th Congressional District race on Thursday, Oct. 11 in Palatine.

The invitation is the group's second attempt to host such a debate, after Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Wheaton) was unable to attend the Oct. 4 event. Candidate Leslie Coolidge (D-Barrington) previously accepted the Oct. 4 invitation and has accepted the Oct. 11 invitation. The Roskam for Congress campaign staff indicated the original date was during the time the House Majority Leader asked representatives to serve in Washington DC. Letter to the Editor: Vote for Roskam this November

Palatine Patch welcomes letters to the editor. Letters may be submitted to the local editor via email.

To the Editor: The great American job creation machine is stalled.  The headline 8.1 percent unemployment rate, which is “adjusted”, understates the un-adjusted 15 percent U6 unemployment rate.  To get Americans working again, we need to send people like Peter Roskam to Washington. He understands that over-regulation by the Federal government is restraining job growth. Peter Roskam voted for the Red Tape Reduction Act, to help small businesses reduce burdensome regulatory compliance. He is an influential member of the House Ways and Means Committee, responsible for tax reform to help small and large companies become more globally competitive. He knows business owners like me are hesitant to hire when the Federal Government is constantly …

Letter: Peter Roskam is 'Well-Equipped to Truly Represent'

To send a letter to the editor, email Charlotte@patch.com.

Wheaton Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor emailed to Local Editor, Charlotte Eriksen at Charlotte@patch.com, or sent as a message through the Wheaton Patch Facebook page. We are living in very precarious times, where selfish desires and attention-seeking behavior seem to take precedence in Washington.  Humility and principled behavior just don’t seem to be qualities many of our public officials possess.  And the consequences are costly on many levels. The good news is that we are very fortunate here in the 6th Congressional District to be represented in Washington by Peter Roskam.  I am continually impressed with his ability to have an ongoing and genuine conversation with his constituency. Whether in person, during Tele-…

Letter: Paul Ryan's Trustworthiness, Credibility 'Seriously in Question'

Wheaton resident writes thoughts on VP candidate Paul Ryan. To send a letter to the editor, email Charlotte@patch.com

Wheaton Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor sent to editor, Charlotte Eriksen at Charlotte@patch.com, or sent in a Facebook message to the Wheaton Patch Facebook page. Dear Editor: How can we trust a candidate whose acceptance speech received four Pinocchio Awards from the unbiased fact checker of the Washington Post (cf. Glenn Kessler, Aug. 27, 2012) and who continues to repeat and twist these misleading untruths?  Paul Ryan’s trustworthiness and credibility are seriously in question. Resorting to lies or half-truths, relying on spin, indicates weakness of argument and more profoundly a lack of personal integrity and character. Ryan’s acceptance speech thus forces all discriminating intelligent voters, particularly the …

Illinois Republicans Feeling Good About the Future

While November's elections are important, GOP leaders gathered at Republican National Convention say they're focused on strengthening the party for the long term.

TAMPA, FL -- With President Barack Obama carrying Illinois by 25 percentage points in 2008 and with a new poll showing him leading Mitt Romney by about the same margin, one might think there's not much joy among delegates and party leaders gathered here for the Republican National Convention this week. And while even the reddest of the Republicans acknowledges that GOP presidential candidate Romney has little chance of carrying Illinois, those in Tampa stress that they're focused on building the party for 2014 and beyond. "The presidential race will be an uphill climb for us," said state party Chairman Pat Brady, adding that Republicans are concentrating their efforts more on congressional and state legislative races this fall. "In 2014, …
