Patch has Your Guide to the 2013 Taste of Glen Ellyn

Patch has all the scheduling and pricing information you need for the 2013 Taste of Glen Ellyn.

The 33rd Annual Taste of Glen Ellyn, hosted by the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce will be Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, May 19 in downtown Glen Ellyn.  The Village Fair will open Wednesday. Live entertainment, food vendors, and a beer and wine tent will be available Thursday night through Saturday night in the parking lot at 400 N. Main St.  Wristbands for the Village Fair The Village Fair will be Wednesday through Sunday. The fair hours are 5-10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.  Wristbands are $18 or $14 after 5:30 p.m. Discounted carnival coupons are available for $2 for Thursday and Friday.  Thursday, May 16 Friday, May 17 Saturday, May 18 Sunday, May 19 Share your photos of the Taste…

She had no idea her play time would one day lead her to a career creating and designing wedding veils and selling wedding gowns. The owner of Veiled By ChaCha is still playing dress up—helping soon-to-be brides find dresses, veils and accessories to make their weddings a dream come true. Cervantes, whose maiden name Ciaccia was the inspiration for her business name, comes from a family of creative designers. Opening Soon: Fast Food at The Stand in Downtown Glen Ellyn

The restaurant is expected to open sometime in March if construction goes as planned.

The Stand will be opening sometime this spring and it is anticipated the restaurant, which is under construction now, could be open sometime in March. The location, at 542 Crescent Blvd.—the former site of Express Press—is under construction and getting some major renovations, said Lisa Demos, who owns the business and will be managing the restaurant’s operations. “Before I was married, I managed an Olive Garden so I have that to go back on,” she said. “We came about [the idea], I decided it was time for me to do something for the community and my family.” After picking the brains of her family, they decided the…

Open for Business: Papier Girl

The stationery store has relocated from Naperville to downtown Glen Ellyn and expects to open this week.

Glen Ellyn residents have a new location to buy party invitations or fill any stationery needs with the opening of a shop in downtown. Local resident Lesley Vesevick has relocated her business Papier Girl from Naperville to downtown Glen Ellyn. The business is expected to open Wednesday, if all goes well with the finishing touches, Vesevick said. The shop is located at 413 N. Main St. and will carry a variety of invitations for children and adults that will fit the need for any occasion, Vesevick said. The stationery shop will also sell greeting cards, wrapping paper, calendars, stationery and other related items. Embarking on a Culinary Experience

A Glen Ellyn resident opens the doors to a new culinary retail store and cooking school.

To formulate her new business, Jill Foucre mixed in her family heritage, a love of cooking from her late grandfather and her business skills to concoct a store to attract food lovers from throughout the area. Last week, curious Glen Ellyn downtown strollers peered through large windows to see Foucre and her staff organize cookware, fine linens and other items on shelves as they prepared for today's (Monday, Sept. 26) soft, unofficial opening of Marcel’s Culinary Experience, 490 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn. The store will open at 10 a.m. A grand opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.
