Voters: Keep the Winfield Police Department

Winfield trustee tells Daily Herald DuPage County Sheriff's Office is not interested in an outsourcing plan for the village's police duties. Last week, more than 85 percent of voters said they want to keep the village police department.

Winfield voters said 'yes' to the question of whether the village should keep its own police department instead of outsourcing to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office, according to the Chicago Tribune. The Village of Winfield proposed outsourcing police duties as a way to save money to repair its roads, according to the Daily Herald.  After 87.4 percent of voters said they want to keep the police department Nov. 6, Winfield trustee Tim Allen said the DuPage Sheriff's Office notified him Wednesday they are not interested in the outsourcing proposal, the Herald reported Thursday.
