Born in Havana, Cuba, on May 7, 1946, he came to this country as part of Operation Peter Pan in 1960, where he settled with other Cuban refugee children in Lincoln, NE. It was there he met the love of his life, Betty L. Klaus while attending the University of Nebraska. They married in the summer of 1969 and moved to Illinois.
