Best of Craigslist: Wall-E Bounce Castle; Comiskey Park Bleacher Seats

Check out some of the most interesting posts we were able to find for the Elmhurst, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn area on Craigslist this past week.

The following items and postings were found on Craigslist for the Elmhurst, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn area. Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. If you saw Wall-E, you might recall that the titular robot character was actually a miniature garbage compactor. So that should totally make you want to stick your kids inside him! Kidding, of course; Wall-E is adorable, and makes for an adorable inflatable 15-foot square bounce castle that you can own from this Elmhurst seller for a cool $1,000, blower included.  Is there a better way for a fan of White Sox history to watch the current iteration of the Sox than in seats taken from the “Baseball Palace of the World?” These seats …

Warrenville/Wheaton Father/Son Accused of Defrauding Clients

A Lisle firm run by the Dushek family allegedly committed "cherry-picking" misuses of client funds that netted them $2,000,000 in illegal profits, the SEC claims.

A Securities and Exchange Commission fraud complaint has been filed against Charles J. Dushek of Warrenville and his son Charles S. Dushek of Wheaton, the owners of Lisle investment advisory firm Capital Management Associates Inc., the Daily Herald reports. According to the paper, the SEC complaint alleges that the Dusheks netted $2 million in unlawful profits by running a "cherry-picking" scheme from 2008 to 2012 in which they defrauded clients by assigning profitable trades to their own accounts—and dumping losing trades onto clients, frequently senior citizens. The paper quoted an SEC release claiming that the firm "placed millions of dollars in securities trades without designating in advance whether they were trading personal or …

Best of Craigslist: ‘Phallic’ Landscaping Stone; Clown Wanted for Hangout

Check out some of the most interesting posts we were able to find for the Elmhurst, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn area on Craigslist this past week.

The following items and postings were found on Craigslist for the Elmhurst, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn area. Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. I can’t help but wonder who was the home owner who “specifically [chose]” this “center piece… due to its unique shape as a phallus.” Really? That’s what you want in the heart of your rock garden? To be honest, I don’t even really see it. (It’s kind of… roundish.) But if you also have some sort of odd Freudian thing going on, you can get it for $50 from a Lombard seller. Someone in Lombard is looking to hire a clown. Not to entertain kids, but to “come hang out, drink a beer, some food, talk to people, maybe creep my friends out a …

Your Take: Local Police—What Do You Appreciate?

It's Police Week in the United States; in that spirit, we asked our local readers in DuPage County what they appreciate most about their local force.

Did you know that this week—May 13-20—is officially Police Week in the United States? According to PoliceWeek.org:  In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. In the spirit of the week, we reached out to our DuPage County readers on Facebook and asked what they appreciate most about their local police departments. Here’s some of what readers shared with us:  Carol Gog: “Back in the nineties, I locked my keys in …

Best of Craigslist: Final Fantasy’s Cloud’s Sword; 14-Passenger Limo

Check out some of the most interesting posts we were able to find for the Elmhurst, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn area on Craigslist this past week.

The following items and postings were found on Craigslist for the Elmhurst, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn area. Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. Final Fantasy VII is one of the most classic video games of all time, and its hero Cloud Strife’s Buster sword a memorable (and absurdly gigantic) blade. Relive it with this Wheaton seller’s $100 metal replica, 4’4” tall, sharp and never used, perfect for your epic final battle against Sephiroth. Or, y’know, for your costume at the next convention that comes to town. Renting a limousine can be so expensive—so why not just buy one?  If you’ve got $8,500 to burn, this 1999 white stretch limo from Villa Park can be yours, complete …

Best of Craigslist: Steve the Attack Iguana Stolen; Chicago Bulls Barbie

Check out some of the most interesting posts we were able to find for the Elmhurst, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn area on Craigslist this past week.

The following items and postings were found on Craigslist for the Elmhurst, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn area. Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. Patch has already reported on the story of the Elmhurst pet iguana who apparently attacked the person stealing him so badly that police were able to get DNA from the perp’s blood on the porch. Now thanks to this post, we know his name is Steve and he is the family’s “closest member.” We salute you, Steve, and hope you are found soon! This NBA Barbie wears the Chicago Bulls No. 1, so apparently she’s like Derrick Rose, except perhaps without the part where her SAT scores wipe out a college team’s entire season. Well, actually, she’…

Best of Craigslist: $4250 Golf Bag; Kitten Needed, Stat!

I learned today that former French president Nicolas Sarkozy gifted President Obama a $7,750 golf bag at one point (he didn’t keep it.) Don’t quite get that, and I certainly don’t quite get why this garage-sale-looking bag out of Elmhurst is worth $4,250, the price of eight and a half rounds at Pebble Beach, or about 100 at White Pines. But apparently it’s “rare,” and if that’s good enough for you, get your checkbook out! Kitten emergency! Kitten needed right now in Villa Park! Preferably five-to-seven weeks old, and tiger-striped…
