March Home Sales: Wheaton Market Makes Gains; Median Price Rises

Wheaton saw a moderate increase in the number of homes sold, with the median home price making some gains as well, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors.

The 44 homes sold in Wheaton during March 2013 represented a 25.7 percent increase over March 2012, when 35 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). There were 28 homes sold in Wheaton during February.  As the number of homes sold increased, the median price of homes sold in March also increased in Wheaton. The median price rose  13.5 percent to $324,000 from $285,500 in March 2012. The market for detached, single-family homes in suburbs throughout DuPage County experienced notable sales gains in March, MORe reported. MORe gets its statistics from Midwest Real Estate Data. Illinois Home Foreclosures Top National Average

Data reflects nearly 138,000 homes in Illinios were in "foreclosure inventory" at the end of the first quarter, 36 percent higher than the same period last year, according to the story.
