Wheaton Warrenville South Homecoming to Honor First State Championship Football Team

The Wheaton Warrenville South Tigers this weekend will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the school and its first state championship football team, who won an unforgettable game in 1992.

Glenbard West Topples Wheaton Warrenville South in Marquee Matchup

Glenbard West scored touchdowns on three straight first-half possessions and never looked back in its 28-7 victory over fellow Class 7A state power Wheaton Warrenville South Saturday afternoon in Glen Ellyn.

Breaking It Down: In one of the most highly anticipated football games of the opening weekend, Glenbard West scored on three consecutive possessions bridging the first and second quarters to turn back Wheaton Warrenville South, 28-7, Saturday afternoon in Glen Ellyn. Hayden Lekacz, in what both coaches agreed was a defining moment of the contest between the two traditional west suburban powers, intercepted WWS quarterback Ryan Graham on the Tigers’ third play from scrimmage to completely alter the field position. Glenbard West responded with 21 unanswered points on its ensuing three drives as running backs Joe Zito and Scott Andrews, who scored two touchdowns apiece for the Hilltoppers, engineered scoring drives of 69, 77 and 83 yards. …

Wheaton Warrenville South Hosts Red Grange Classic 7-on-7 Tournament

The MyMVPs.com Red Grange Classic 7-on-7 tournament features 16 area teams at Wheaton Warrenville South today.

The Wheaton Warrenville South High School football team is hosting the Red Grange Classic 7-on-7 tournament today at Wheaton Warrenville South. The Tigers beat Lyons Township 20-13 in pool play at its 9 a.m. game. Run by iHigh, the tournament features two pools of eight teams, playing games until about 4 p.m. today. Single-elimination tournament play will begin at 4:30, after 16 teams are seeded after pool play. The championship game begins at 7:30 p.m. Participating teams include Batavia, East Saint Louis, Elk Grove, Glenbard North, Glenbard West, Hinsdale Central, Lincoln Way East, Lyons Township, Maine South, Montini, Naperville Central, Naperville North, New Trier, Rockford Boylan, Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South. ESPN to Recognize Wheaton Warrenville South State Champs

ESPN will honor Wheaton Warrenville South varsity boys volleyball team Friday, June 22.

ESPN will honor the Wheaton Warrenville South Varsity Boys Volleyball team with a national championship trophy and banner to be presented at the school.   This is the first time an Illinois school has been honored in this manner. WWS would like to pack the house and invites all members of the community to join the WWS National Champions on the 22nd at 5pm. According to head coach Bill Schreier, “Let’s show ESPN a taste of what Tiger Nation is all about. Bring as many people as possible and celebrate this historic event.” Information courtesy of District 200.

The idea of a "National Champion" in high school athletics is preposterous! They should ALWAYS BE a state honor. The seedy underworld of "recruiting" players (having 'John Doe' use his uncle's address to play for school X when he lives in the district for school Z) is bad enough! Wheaton Lacrosse Heads to State Semifinal

The Wheaton Warrenville South varsity lacrosse team will play Loyola Academy in a state semifinal game.

The Wheaton Warrenville South Varsity Lacrosse team is set to play Loyola Academy today in a State semi-final lacrosse playoff game. The Tigers (17-3) won the Dupage Valley Conference title for the second year in a row and are the #4 seeded team in the State Championship Class A Bracket of the tournament. The team is led by captains Tyler Cook (All-American, All-State, All Conference) and Sam Prete (All Conference). Cook will continue his lacrosse career at High Point University in North Carolina and Prete will play on at the University of Wisconsin. Major contributions have also come from Scott Blouin (all-conference) Ryan McNeil (all-conference), Brandon Peterson (all-state, all-conference), Kyle McGrath (all-conference), Collin Schwerin…

VIDEO: Wheaton Show Choir Wins National Championship

The Wheaton Warrenville South Classics Show Choir wins FAME National Championships.

The Wheaton Warrenville South Classics Show Choir won the FAME National Championships for the second consecutive year Saturday, Apr. 21. Show choirs from around the country participate in one of a series of five regional competitions to determine the national finalists for the FAME competition, which took place at the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago over the weekend. The Wheaton Warrenville South Classics were named the Grand Champions, and awards for best vocals, choreography, band, rhythm section and male presence onstage. (Were you at this event? Wheaton Warrenville South students perform in their school's variety show held last month. The Wheaton Warrenville South Classics Show Choir competed at the 2012 FAME Branson show choir competition in Branson, MO in late March, where they were named Grand Champions and received awards for best choreography, best vocals, best band, best show design and best female soloist (Emma Wright).
