SUNDAY, APRIL 14 Police charged Matthew R. Asuan, 24, of the 3200 block of Grafton Ln, Aurora, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Asuan was driving a silver or aluminum 2011 Jeep Liberty at about 1:01 a.m. near the intersection of Naperville Road and Longfellow when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning. FRIDAY, APRIL 12 Police charged Paul F. Palanca, 21, of the 4400 block of North Wildwood Court, Hoffman Estates, with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated revoked driver's license, both felonies. DUI Drug and Alcohol Arrests: Police Blotter

Wheaton police reports, March 29-April 7

SUNDAY, APRIL 7 Police charged Rob M. Hannus, 21, of the 600 block of Sand Creek, Carol Stream, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Hannus was driving a gray 2008 Hyundai Elantra GL at about 2:35 a.m. near the intersection of Naperville Road and Farnham when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning. During the same incident, police charged Derrick D. Manard, 21, of the 3100 block of Adams, Bellwood, and Alexandria Gagliardi, 21, of the 500 block of Crescent Street, Wheaton, with possession of cannabis. MONDAY, APRIL 1 Someone stole two 32-inch TVs, a video game console and $190 from an apartment on the 1600 block of Briarcliffe Boulevard. The incident was reported at 6:17 p.m. on this day and occurred sometime between noon March 22 and noon March 30. A store employee on the 1600 block of North Main reported a cell phone theft at 5:26 p.m. Just a few minutes before, a woman entered the store and asked the employee if she could look at a cell phone. The employee retrieved a $100 phone from behind the secured counter and handed it to the woman, who then went to the washroom. The woman then exited the store without paying for the phone, leaving the box inside the washroom. SUNDAY, MARCH 31 An officer at 1:35 p.m. saw graffiti on the front …

Wheaton Man Accused of Possessing Stolen Vehicle

The 19-year-old was arrested on March 30. Here's what happened.

A 19-year-old Wheaton man remains in the DuPage County Jail as he faces a felony charge of possessing a stolen car. Matthew R. Grote, of the 1400 block of Stonebridge Trail, is accused of receiving, possessing or attempting to sell a black 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. He is being held on $150,000 bail. The charge involves an incident that took place between 9 p.m. March 29 and 8:15 a.m. March 30 on the 1400 block of Stonebridge Circle, about a half-mile from Grote's residence. Grote was arrested at 10:58 a.m. March 30 on West Loop Road east of Naperville Road. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department, 900 W. Liberty St., and then transferred to the DuPage County Jail that afternoon. The next court date for Grote's case is April 11, …

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27 A woman who placed her purse on a store shelf later found that someone took her $250 black leather wallet inside. The woman was shopping on March 27 at a store on the first block of West Loop Road. The purse was on a shelf unattended from 3:20 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. while the woman was a short distance away. As the woman finished her shopping, she attempted to make a purchase and discovered her wallet was missing. There was $375 inside the wallet. TUESDAY, MARCH 26 Someone took a neon sign that was hanging in a geology hallway at the Wheaton College Meyer Science Center on the 400 block of North Howard. 'Flash Mob' Nabs Over $1,000 in Clothing From Town Square Shop

The group targeted certain displays, according to police. Here are more details.

An "organized flash mob" recently took $1,083 worth of clothing from a store in Town Square Wheaton, according to a police report. The incident occurred at 10:30 a.m. March 28 and involved a mob of seven people, a store employee told police at about 5 p.m. that day. They entered the business through the "inner circle doors" of Town Square Wheaton and immediately targeted certain merchandise displays. Further information, including suspect descriptions, were not immediately available at the time of this report. TUESDAY, MARCH 26 Police charged Christopher J. Ferguson, 25, of the 2S100 block of Center Avenue in Wheaton with a warrant in connection to retail theft. Ferguson was arrested at 2 p.m. He was booked and released from the Wheaton Police Department later that day. Police charged Laura L. Mauricio, 40, of the 700 block of Kensington Road, Glen Ellyn, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Mauricio was driving a red 1998 Ford Windstar at about 12:37 a.m. near the intersection of Butterfield Road and Cromwell Drive when police initiated a traffic stop. reading this i can hear my money being flushed down the toilet. in an age where herion is such an epidemic in the surburbs i still have yet to hear the wheaton police dep make a non cannabis bust. what a sham. they have no problems picking on teens smoking pot yet arent productive enough to take real drugs of the street. can we find any real criminals? not with wheaton pd on the scene.   more ›
