Wheaton police reports, May 1-8
WEDNESDAY, MAY 8 Police charged Uriel A. Ambrosio, 21, of the 1700 block of Woodcutter Lane in Wheaton with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended. Ambrosio was driving a red 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe at 4:25 p.m. on the 1700 block of South Wiesbrook Road when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and was released later that day. TUESDAY, MAY 7 MONDAY, MAY 6 Police charged Laney N. Kelsey, 18, of the 500 block of North Alfred Avenue in Elgin with possession of drug paraphernalia. THURSDAY, MAY 2 MONDAY, APRIL 29 Police charged Caitlin R. Azarela, 18, of the 1500 block of South Prospect Avenue in Wheaton with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested at 4:08 p.m. near the intersection of Buena Vista and Lorraine. Then she was released from the scene. SUNDAY, APRIL 28 Police charged Cody L. Costello, 22, of the 2400 block of Wydown Lane, Aurora, with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police investigate a burglary at the Main Street Plaza Laundry in Wheaton.
Police are investigating a burglary at a Wheaton laundromat in which the suspect wore a mask and had moves like Spiderman. The incident took place at Main Street Plaza Laundry, 282 E. Geneva Rd. in Wheaton early Monday morning. The business' security camera shows the suspect in the business about 1:30 a.m., carrying an axe and wearing a towel over his head, sneaking along the laundry machines and jumping over the customer counter to get to the office, according to the police report. The burglar tried to open a safe in the business using black electrical tape before going into the office, where the security camera doesn't work, police said. He then used tools from the office to take apart the cash drawer and steal $500. The suspect …

SUNDAY, APRIL 21 Police charged Glenn T. Christon, 47, of the 1500 block of Old Forge Road, Bartlett, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Christon was driving a gray 2012 Ford E-350 at about 11:49 p.m. near the intersection of Butterfield and Wiesbrook roads when police initiated a traffic stop. The fire is thought to be accidental in nature, officials said. Here's what happened.
An investigation continues into a garage fire that broke out Saturday in downtown Wheaton. The fire occurred on the 700 block of East Liberty Drive in a detached three-car garage with a built-out second floor. The Wheaton Fire Department responded to the fire at about 8:40 p.m., according to a press release. The fire, which involved the second floor of the garage, was quickly extinguished. There was no damage to the house. "Although the fire is believed to be accidental in nature, an investigator began a cause and origin investigation regarding this fire," the release said. As of Monday afternoon, there was no estimate of damages and the fire was listed as undetermined. The property was turned back over to the owners. No one was injured …
