Two incumbents and one newcomer elected to Wheaton Park District board of commissioners.
Incumbents John Kelly and Mark Schobel and newcomer Jane Hodgkinson have won the 2013 election to the Wheaton Park District board of commissioners. With all precincts reporting, Hodgkinson finished first with 4,602 votes, followed by John Kelly with 4,166 votes and Mark Schobel with 3,997 votes. Jane Hodgkinson will bring 30 years of experience as the executive director of the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA). She said Tuesday, "I'm very honored that I was elected to the Wheaton Park District... I still contend it's one of the best park districts in the U.S. and I'm looking forward to being a part of that." Kelly, 57, has been on the board of commissioners since 2009 and is currently the board president. He has a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Illinois and is president of b. Hodgkinson, 63, is now retired from her 30-year career as executive director of the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association in Carol Stream. Four people file for three open seats on the Wheaton Park District Board of Commissioners.
Four people have filed for candidacy in the 2013 election of the Wheaton Park District Board of Commissioners. The residents running to fill three seats include Jane Hodgkinson, former director of the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association, and incumbents, current President John Kelly, Mark Schobel and Steve Fieweger. The board is comprised of seven volunteers who represent about 53,000 residents in Wheaton. Terms for the four other board members—Vice President Phil Luetkehans, Terry Mee, Ray Morrill and Kim VanderSchaaf—continue until 2015. The consolidated election will be April 9, 2013.
