Watch: Wheaton North High School Lip Dub 2013

Watch the entire Falcon student body come together to dance to music by the Spice Girls, Wham! and Bon Jovi to celebrate the winding-down of the school year.

The "lip dub" is one of those many unique creations of the YouTube era—a mass-participation music video requiring extensive planning and perfect execution—and Wheaton North High School students have risen to the occasion to release a single-shot dub featuring the entire student body in one grand school-wide dance. Boogieing to "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls, "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham! and "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi, the Falcons swarm the school's hallways, track, basketball court, courtyard and more, with spotlighted students lip-synching the lyrics, before everyone swarms together for a cheering finish. Newsweek High School Rankings Map: Wheaton North at 600

The magazine's 2013 report out this week recognizes several Illinois schools.

For its rankings, Newsweek sent out a survey to more than 5,000 high schools in the U.S., with about 2,500 schools responding in 2013. You can see the details about Wheaton North's ranking, and every other ranked high school by clicking on the markers in the interactive map above. The survey scores were then weighted and calculated using several criteria including on-time graduation and college acceptance rates. U.S. News: Wheaton Warrenville South, Wheaton North High Schools Rank Among Best in State

Wheaton Warrenville South and Wheaton North ranked 32nd and 40th - respectively - out of 667 Illinois high schools, according to the annual list published by U.S. News and World Report.

Wheaton Warrenville South and Wheaton North High Schools are ranked among the best high schools in the state, according to a report published Tuesday by U.S. News and World Report. Wheaton Warrenville South ranked 32nd out of 667 public high schools in Illinois. While, Wheaton North ranked 40th out of 667. The 2013 U.S. News and World Report Best High Schools rankings are based on data collected from more than 21,000 public U.S. high schools from 49 states and the District of Columbia. The rankings are designed to capture how well high schools educate all of their students and prepare them for college-level work, a press release from U.S. News said. Accused Wheaton North Teacher Pleads Not Guilty in Sexual Assault Case

English teacher Edwin Klemm, charged with criminal sexual assault of a former student, appeared at the DuPage County Courthouse Friday morning.

A District 200 teacher accused of having sex with a student pleaded not guilty Friday morning in DuPage County Court. Edwin Klemm, 43, an English teacher at Wheaton North High School, appeared before Judge George Bakalis to enter the plea. Klemm remains in DuPage County Jail on $600,000 bail. Klemm’s appearance was part of the standard arraignment that takes place before a trial. He faces 11 counts of criminal sexual assault in connection to a relationship he had with a Wheaton North student in 2011. The student was 16 when the 10-month relationship began, Assistant State's Attorney Ann Celine O’Hallaren said. Fires at Wheaton North, Vacant House Unrelated: Fire Department

Officials say two fires within blocks of each other Thursday were not started intentionally, nor were they related.

Investigators do not believe anyone intentionally started the two fires within blocks of each other in Wheaton Thursday morning, or that the two fires were related, according to a news release from the Wheaton Fire Department. A small fire broke out about 7 a.m. in a science storage room at Wheaton North High School just before students started first period. The school's sprinkler system activated and stopped the fire. Students were evacuated to the stadium and returned to classes later Thursday morning. A fire started about 7:10 a.m. a few blocks away from the school at a vacant house at 25W330 Armbrust Ave.  According to the release, "While the exact causes of each fire remain undetermined, the fire investigators do not believe at this …

Small fire began in one of the school's science store rooms.

Updated 10:54 a.m. Editor's note: This story has been updated with additional information from District 200 and the Wheaton Fire Department. No injuries were reported when a small fire broke out at Wheaton North High School Thursday morning. According to District 200 spokeswoman Erica Loiacono, the fire began in a science storeroom before students arrived. Wheaton Firefighters were on the scene before students arrived to classes, she said. According to a news release from the Wheaton Fire Department, the fire started about 7 a.m. The school's sprinkler system did activate and stopped the fire, but water did make its way out to the school's hallway, Loiacono said. Prosecutors: Wheaton North Teacher Met Student At Home 10 to 12 Times

Edwin Klemm's encounters with a Wheaton North High School student included oral and safe sex, prosecutors said.

The sexual relationship between a Wheaton North High School teacher and student involved more than 13 different encounters in various places, DuPage county prosecutors said. At least 10 of those encounters took place in the St. Charles home of Edwin Klemm, 43, an English teacher and former speech team coach, said Ann Celine O’Hallaren, assistant DuPage County State's Attorney. Klemm was charged with eleven counts of criminal sexual assault in connection to his relationship with the student. Criminal sexual assault is a class 1 felony punishable by four to fifteen years per count in prison, according to the State's Attorney's Office. Readers React: English Teacher Charged with Sexually Assaulting Student

Response was swift and explosive to our announcement Wednesday morning that Wheaton North High School teacher Edwin Klemm, of St. Charles, has been charged with 11 counts of criminal sexual assault of a teen, after he had sexual encounters with a former student starting when she was 16 in a classroom, a parking garage in Chicago and at his home, according to prosecutors. Several respondents claimed to have been Klemm's students at one point; others are Wheaton North parents and still others had no personal connection, but still had something interesting to share. Dist. 200 Addresses Teacher Sex Assault Charges in Statement, Letter to Parents

No additional former or current students are involved in the charges against Wheaton North teacher Ed Klemm, officials said.

Guidance counselors will continue to be on hand for students in Community Unit School District 200 following the arrest of a Wheaton North High School teacher facing sexual assault charges, officials said Wednesday. The district first addressed the charges in a brief letter to parents sent late Wednesday morning via the district’s Blackboard online system. The letter said Klemm was arrested in connection with charges of “Criminal Assault by Person in Authority or Position of Trust.” The phrase “Sexual Assault” did not appear until a second statement was released in the afternoon.
