7A Football Photo Gallery: Glenbard West Nips Wheaton North

Glenbard West 3, Wheaton North 0: The Hilltoppers scored on a second-quarter field goal and relied on a stout defense to prevail in Saturday's Class 7A football quarterfinal game.

Hayden Lekacz kicked a 32-yard field goal with 9:17 left in the first half and Glenbard West's defense did the rest as the Hilltoppers edged Wheaton North 3-0 in a Class 7A football quarterfinal on Saturday. Later in the second quarter, the Hitters were at roughly the Falcons' 40 yard line. They needed about 3 yards on the 4th down. They tried to run for it and got a yard or two, but the runner was tackled just short of getting the first down. The Falcons then managed to get all the way to about the 15 yard line. Wheaton North Advances in 7A Playoffs

Falcons score 41 first half points to down Saints, 41-13

The Wheaton North Falcons started the playoffs with a bang, defeating St Charles East 41-13.  The Falcons (9-1) scored touchdowns on their first six drives. The Saints didn't get a first down until the fourth quarter, the Chicago Tribune reported. North's Patrick Sharp had 44 yards and two scores. Johnny Peltz found receiver Matt Biegalski for 14- and 30-yard strikes and Clayton Thorson for a 47-yard score, according to the Tribune. Wheaton North will play Prospect in the second round of the playoffs Friday, Nov. 2.

Football: Falcons Top Tigers in Wheaton Rivalry

Wheaton North 23, Wheaton Warrenville South 13. The Falcons got their first win in the rivalry since 2002 and knocked the perennial powerhouse out of the playoff picture.

The atmosphere was as exciting as you would expect for the Wheaton North game against Wheaton Warrenville South. The stands were filled and when there we no more seats, even more fans stood around the fences to see an intense game of football between these two rivals. Wheaton North captured their first win against the Tigers since 2002, winning 23-13. The Falcons jumped out to a 23-0 lead the first half and then hung on to win as the Tigers fought back in the second half. In getting the win, the Falcons also ended the Tigers' season at 4-5. Wheaton North is 8-1 and awaits the playoff pairings announcement Saturday night.  READ MORE ABOUT THE RIVALRY GAME

Wheaton Football: 2012 Season Schedule

The schedules are up for IHSA teams for fans to plan for Friday nights under the lights starting Aug. 25.

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has posted the schedules for the 2012 football season. The Wheaton North, Wheaton Warrenville South and St. Francis schedules are as follows: Coach: Joe Wardynski 2011 Record: 8-3 (Class 7A) Coach: Ron Muhitch 2011 Record: 10-4 (Class 7A) Coach: Greg Purnell 2011 Record: 8-3 (Class 5A)
