Wheaton North's John Peltz Commits to Wheaton College

Wheaton North High School quarterback John Peltz has committed to play football and baseball at Wheaton College in the fall.

Wheaton North High School quarterback John Peltz will continue his family's tradition of competing in Thunder athletics at Wheaton College as a quarterback and third baseman next year. Peltz signed with Wheaton College on Thursday, relieved to officially know where he'll play next year. "I'm just, overall, excited to finally get the decision out of the way... It's kind of a big relief. I'm really excited to play baseball and football (there)," he said. Peltz will play under his uncle, head coach Mike Swider and his dad, defensive line coach Jeffrey Peltz, and he'll reunite with his cousin, freshman inside linebacker Mike Swider, who played with Peltz at Wheaton North. His other cousin, junior tailback Justin Swider, also played at Wheaton …

Hiben, Butler Getting Acclimated to College Football

Former area prep stars, now at Wheaton College, can attest that there's a lot to learn at the next level.

Mark Hiben and Reece Butler were vital components in their high school teams’ offenses last season at Glenbard West and Wheaton North, respectively. Today, Hiben and Butler are learning what college football is all about as freshmen at Wheaton College. Hiben, who compiled more than 1,100 receiving yards and caught 14 touchdown passes for the Hilltoppers in 2010, has seen some action for the Thunder early this season. Meanwhile, Butler, who led the Falcons to consecutive postseason appearances (2009 and 2010), is the No. 3 quarterback on Wheaton College’s depth chart.
