I can’t help but wonder who was the home owner who “specifically [chose]” this “center piece… due to its unique shape as a phallus.” Really? That’s what you want in the heart of your rock garden? To be honest, I don’t even really see it. (It’s kind of… roundish.) But if you also have some sort of odd Freudian thing going on, you can get it for $50 from a Lombard seller. Someone in Lombard is looking to hire a clown. Not to entertain kids, but to “come hang out, drink a beer, some food, talk to people, maybe creep my friends out a …

It's Police Week in the United States; in that spirit, we asked our local readers in DuPage County what they appreciate most about their local force.
Did you know that this week—May 13-20—is officially Police Week in the United States? According to PoliceWeek.org: In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. In the spirit of the week, we reached out to our DuPage County readers on Facebook and asked what they appreciate most about their local police departments. Here’s some of what readers shared with us: Carol Gog: “Back in the nineties, I locked my keys in …

Final Fantasy VII is one of the most classic video games of all time, and its hero Cloud Strife’s Buster sword a memorable (and absurdly gigantic) blade. Relive it with this Wheaton seller’s $100 metal replica, 4’4” tall, sharp and never used, perfect for your epic final battle against Sephiroth. Or, y’know, for your costume at the next convention that comes to town. Renting a limousine can be so expensive—so why not just buy one? If you’ve got $8,500 to burn, this 1999 white stretch limo from Villa Park can be yours, complete …

The team cruised to victory at last Wednesday's sectional meet to advance to the IHSA state finals, which they won last year.
With a dominant victory at last Wednesday's Wheaton-Warrenville South sectional tournament, the Wheaton co-op boys gymnastics team is now preparing to defend last year's state title at this weekend's IHSA state finals, the Daily Herald reports. According to the paper, Wheaton put up 161 points on Wednesday, outdistancing Glenbard West, second with 141.75, with Wheaton buoyed by the all-around top trio of Ethan Sansone (55.3), David MacDonald (55.25) and Danny Heller (49.1), with additional points coming from Austin Peabody and Qarin Johnnic. "There's a lot of training and hard work behind the scenes that goes on for us to go every year," Sansone, a junior, told the paper.. "We all love gymnastics and competing and being a part of Wheaton …

The following items and postings were found on Craigslist for the Elmhurst, Wheaton and Glen Ellyn area. Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. Patch has already reported on the story of the Elmhurst pet iguana who apparently attacked the person stealing him so badly that police were able to get DNA from the perp’s blood on the porch. Now thanks to this post, we know his name is Steve and he is the family’s “closest member.” We salute you, Steve, and hope you are found soon! This NBA Barbie wears the Chicago Bulls No. 1, so apparently she’s like Derrick Rose, except perhaps without the part where her SAT scores wipe out a college team’s entire season. Well, actually, she’…

Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. I learned today that former French president Nicolas Sarkozy gifted President Obama a $7,750 golf bag at one point (he didn’t keep it.) Don’t quite get that, and I certainly don’t quite get why this garage-sale-looking bag out of Elmhurst is worth $4,250, the price of eight and a half rounds at Pebble Beach, or about 100 at White Pines. But apparently it’s “rare,” and if that’s good enough for you, get your checkbook out! Kitten emergency! Kitten needed right now in Villa Park! Preferably five-to-seven weeks old, and tiger-striped…

Check out some video documentation of the floods that swamped much of Wheaton and Glen Ellyn last week.
We've pulled together a few videos off of YouTube that well-document some of the flooding in Wheaton last week, including 11-minutes from a Ford F250 owner driving through the sodden streets, shot with a head mount, and some of the runoff pouring through what looks like a concrete wall, which can't be good. And how about the comment on a wet Foxcroft Park? "This used to be a park with a pond, and it is now a giant—" "—Toilet! Gigantic toilet!" Check out the videos above!

Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. I personally think it’s a little odd to have the place one puts one’s posterior to be shaped like an enormous hand, but this kids’ chair from Wheaton (complete with puzzle piece-shaped footstool) does look rather comfortable in its hypnotizing (if slightly faded) blue. (Hand chairs always make me think of Arrested Development, too…) The $100 price is firm; no word on if the chair’s caress is. Avian imagery is big in the culture of “Star Trek” Romulans, Wikipedia tells me, so that explains this “Bird of Prey” wicked double-bladed …
