Won and Done: Meet the 2013 Uncontested Wheaton City Council Candidates

Meet the uncontested Wheaton City Council candidates in the 2013 municipal election.

While City Council seats in all four of Wheaton's districts and one at-large seat were up for election this year, there is only one contested race.  Four candidates are running for one City Council seat in the city's North District, including incumbent Phil Suess, Alberta Adamson, JT del Alcazar and Ted Rodgers. But the Council will still see a few changes in its lineup after the April 9 election. While there's no need to compare these candidates to an opponent, they have all said they welcome questions, comments and concerns from you, the residents—the people they serve.  At-Large: Prendiville to Return to City Council John Prendiville is a former at-large City Councilman who left the Council to challenge Wheaton Mayor Mike Gresk in the …

East District Candidate Appointed Interim Councilman

Thor Saline will serve as an interim at-large councilman until the April 9 election.

Wheaton Mayor Mike Gresk on Monday appointed Thor Saline, an unopposed City Council candidate in the city's East District, to be the interim councilman in the currently vacant at-large seat.  W. Thoreson “Thor” Saline announced in November he is running for the East District seat to replace longtime Councilman Tom Mouhelis who decided not to seek re-election after 12 years in office.  He'll fill State Rep. and former Councilwoman Jeanne Ives' at-large seat after she resigned to allow time for an election of the seat in November before taking her seat in the 42nd state representative district. Former Councilman and mayoral candidate John Prendiville is running for the at-large seat in the April election. Frank Garcia, a former candidate who…

Mayor to Fill Vacant City Council Seat

Wheaton Mayor Mike Gresk will appoint Thor Saline, an unopposed candidate for City Council, to the vacant At-Large seat until the April election.

Wheaton Mayor Michael Gresk next week will recomment the appointment of W. Thoreson Saline to City Council, to fill the vacant seat formerly held by Jeanne Ives, according to a message from the City of Wheaton. If approved by the Council, Saline will fill the seat until the election and seating of a new At-Large City Councilman in May 2013. Saline, 215 W. Williston St., is currently an unopposed candidate for the East District City Council position. Because Saline is running unopposed, Gresk thinks Saline and the City Council would benefit by Saline's appointment, according to the message.  Let Patch save you time.
