District 200 'State of Community': Pension Reform, Teacher Contracts, Jefferson Referendum, Academics

District 200 Board President Rosemary Swanson on Thursday addressed the district's finances, pension reform, improvements to education and capital improvement plans at the annual "State of the Community" forum at the Wheaton Community Center. Recognition: The College Board recently recognized District 200, one of 539 districts in 44 of 50 states in the U.S. and six Canadian provinces, to make its annual AP District Honor Roll. The honor roll recognizes districts that have increased the number of students who take AP tests without lowering scores across the district. District 200, Teachers Reach Tentative 3-Year Agreement

Teacher organization representing about 1,000 District 200 teachers reaches tentative three-year agreement with the district. The Board of Education will vote to approve the agreement Wednesday.

The Wheaton Warrenville Education Association (WWEA) and Community Unit School District 200 have reached a tentative three-year agreement, according to a District 200 press release. The WWEA, which represents approximately 1,000 certified teachers, presented the tentative agreement to their membership and ratified it last week.   The district and WWEA started the bargaining process in January. The agreement provides for a balanced budget, based on revenue projections, according to the District 200 website. The agreement also contains a limited reopener memorandum to address the impact of modifications in the state pension law.
