District 200 Board Approves 3-Year Teacher Contract

Wheaton Warrenville Community Unit School District 200 board members approve three year contract with Wheaton Warrenville Education Association. The new contract increases teacher work time and adjusts their salary structure.

The District 200 Board of Education approved a three-year teacher contract Wednesday night with the Wheaton Warrenville Education Association (WWEA), for the 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15 school years, according to a District 200 press release. The WWEA represents approximately 1,000 teachers in District 200. The contract includes the following, according to the release: Increased hours Faith Dahlquist, assistant superintendent for educational services in District 200 said in a statement, “The extended work day for teachers will allow for more common meeting times in which teams of teachers will collaborate and focus on improved student learning.”        Changes to salary structure However, the District agreed to implement a post-…

I'd like to see the break down of student contact minutes for an elementary teacher vs a middle school or high school teacher. The elementary teachers were handed 30 more minutes to each day. Nothing for those high school teachers that teach only 5 periods. There is a huge injustice here.   more ›

School Board Approves Contract That Will Freeze Employee Salaries, Affect Healthcare Costs

The Community Unit School District 200, in conjunction with the Classified Employees Association, approved an agreement that will freeze employee salaries and impact health care costs for the next two years.

The Community Unit School District 200 and the Classified Employees Association (CEA) approved a two-year contract settlement for support staff (aides, secretaries, custodians, maintenance employees) for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years at the school board meeting yesterday, Wednesday, Oct. 13. The CEA represents more than 500 classified employees in a district of approximately 13,500 students. This agreement freezes employee step increases for the first year and provides no increase in hourly rates for each of the two years. Eligible employees will receive their step increases in the second year.
