Patch will be hosting the monthly "Girl's Night Out" movie showing Wednesday night, where ladies (and guys) can see "Sleepless in Seattle" for $1.
We're getting excited for the monthly "Girl's Night Out" movie showing at Studio Movie Grill in Wheaton this Wednesday, where Sleepless in Seattle is the $1 movie pick of the month. I, Patch Local Editor Charlotte Eriksen, will be there a little early to hang out by the bar and talk with anyone who has questions about Patch. I'll fire up the site and walk you through blogging, posting events, signing up for the newsletter and liking us on Facebook. If you already know about all of that, then we'll just hang out. Girl's Night Out starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12. I'll plan on being there around 6:45 p.m. See you then!

There's a new place in town to catch a movie all while enjoying food and drinks. Wheaton's Studio Movie Grill opened last Friday and we want to know what you think of the new theater-going experience. Have you visited the theater yet? Do you like the idea of dining during a movie, or is it too distracting? Wednesday evening, Wheaton Patch Editor Charlotte Eriksen and myself hosted a ladies night out event. A sold out crowd turned out to watch the chick-flick classic "Dirty Dancing." We ordered beverages, food and had a good time. The menu is not what you might expect. Studio Movie Grill (SMG), a nine-screen movie theater and restaurant opens in Wheaton on Friday, Jun. 8. The theater will feature first-run movie showings in the 40,000-square-foot, former Linens 'N Things and movie theater building at 301 Rice Lake Square. In addition to the free movie passes the theater is offering for its Grand Opening, anyone who donates a nonperishable food item for the "Cans Film Festival" will receive a free ticket for any showing on opening day. More than 175 people will begin new jobs this month as Studio Movie Grill opens its doors at 301 Rice Lake Square in Wheaton. According to a press release from Studio Movie Grill, the development of the 30,000-square-foot space has already impacted the local economy, as "dozens" of local construction workers have been working to complete the project. The building was formerly a Linens 'N Things store and prior to that, a movie theater. Studio Movie Grill’s Wheaton location will house an eight-screen upscale theater, with Dolby Digital technology and 3D, as well as an expansive menu for in-theater dining, according to the release. We went. We were able to reserve seats for a specific time, which we really liked. My tips to patrons: 1. Make a reservation; you'll like it. 2. Before being seated pick up a menu and take it with you to your seat. 3. Consider bringing a small light. Reading the bill, etc, in a darkened theater can be difficult.
