New in 2013: DUI Testing, Cell Phone, Motorcycle Laws
New laws in 2013 will ban cell phone use near emergency scenes or construction zones.
Cellular Telephone Ban Emergency Scenes No person may use a wireless telephone while operating a motor vehicle within 500 feet of an emergency scene where an authorized emergency vehicle is situated or positioned. *This is an amendment to a law that was effective July 20, 2012. Commercial Drivers No Texting or Cellular Telephone Usage While Driving Commercial drivers may not type or read texts from a device while driving, even when temporarily stationary (such as a red light or train crossing). Also prohibits a commercial driver from using hand-held mobile phone with one hand while driving; by pressing more than one button to make or receive calls; or, by leaving the seat belted position to retrieve the phone while driving.
