Wheaton City Council members approve developer's request to build a parking lot for Mariano's Fresh Market employees at the northwest corner of Roosevelt Road and Main Street.
Wheaton City Council on Monday approved a developer's request to build a 136-space parking lot for Mariano's Fresh Market employees instead of an office building or bank at the northwest corner of Roosevelt Road and Main Street. The measure passed 4-3 after disagreement over whether to keep a condition requiring developer Bradford Real Estate to use permeable pavers or porous pavement instead of asphalt for the lot in the ordinance. Bradford's plan originally included redevelopment of the lot at the northwest corner of Roosevelt Road and Main Street, but the unexpected success of Mariano's stores in the Chicago area prompted the request for additional parking instead of another business. Bradford Real Estate President Steve Pagnotta told …

Bradford Real Estate requests city approval for 136-space employee lot at the northwest corner of Roosevelt Road and Main Street in lieu of a drive-thru bank or office building.
Mariano's Fresh Market will build a second parking lot for its employees at the northwest corner of Main Street and Roosevelt Road to accommodate as many people as possible after the store's popularity has taken off in the Chicago area. Wheaton City Council members on Monday said they'd support developer Bradford Real Estate's request to construct the 136-space parking lot for employees instead of bringing a drive-thru bank or office to the site. Dan Farrell, vice president of real estate for Mariano's, said the second lot is necessary to maximize the store's benefits and provide the best possible customer experience. "(We) have learned a lot about what (the) excitement around Mariano's can become," he said. He said Mariano's stores in …

Kelly went over the park district's major accomplishments in 2012, including the following enrollment and attendance stats for district events and facilities: The park district's biggest accomplishment in 2012 was its partnership with Bradford Real Estate, Kelly said. The district bought a portion of the former Hubble school property from Bradford for $3.25 to preserve the gyms and fields it uses for athletics. Bradford purchased the property from District 200 in June 2011 to build a Mariano's Fresh Market at the corner of Naperville and Roosevelt roads. Because …

Wheaton residents can expect a few major business openings in 2013, including Mariano's Fresh Market, Walgreens, two restaurants and more.
As we head into the new year, Wheaton residents can expect quite a few new businesses to pop up around town. Arguably the biggest development underway is Mariano's Fresh Market at 625 Main St., the former Hubble/Wheaton Central school site. Developers predict the store will open in October 2013. Bricks Pizza, set to open this fall and delayed to mid-December, should open early 2013 and Warren's Ale House, also set to open in fall 2012, should also be open early in the new year. Aveda, 109 N. Main St. should open in 2013 after a few delays in fall 2012. City officials say Aveda owners still have not obtained their building permit. Walgreens developers told city officials the new store at 2191 Roosevelt Rd. could open in June 2013. Wheaton …

The gyms at the former Hubble school will be completed about a month later than planned.
Winter athletics at the old Hubble school building will begin a few weeks late, in early February after a delay in construction at the school. Bergen Construction Corp. in September signed on to renovate the gyms for the Wheaton Park District, with plans to receive a $30,000 bonus for a Jan. 1 completion. Parks Executive Director Mike Benard said Thursday the delay is due to a backorder of custom-made air handlers. The park district partnered with Bradford Equities, LLC, the developer buying the District 200 property and building a Mariano's Fresh Market at the corner of Naperville and Roosevelt roads. The park district bought a portion of the Hubble school building from Bradford for $3 million to maintain its gym and outdoor recreation …

Developers expect to begin excavating and clearing site for the Mariano's Fresh Market at the old Hubble property mid-October.
Developers expect to completely demolish the old Hubble school within the next six weeks to clear the site for a Mariano's Fresh Market in Wheaton. Developer Bradford Real Estate on Sept. 10 closed on the Hubble property at the corner of Roosevelt and Naperville roads in Wheaton, with plans to immediately begin asbestos removal in the building. Bradford CFO Chad Jones wrote in an email Wednesday that crews have removed asbestos and started demolition of the western portion of the school building on Monday. "We should be finished with the demolition of this small portion on Thursday or Friday of this week. We are still currently working on removing the asbestos from the rest of the building," Jones wrote. Let Patch save you time. Get more …

Surely we don't need any any additional retail taxes in this community.....the city/county…   more ›
