Letter to the Editor: Milton Township Republicans Organize Volunteer Activities

We welcome letters to the editor. For consideration, contact Charlotte Eriksen at charlotte@patch.com. Or share letters in Local Voices.

To the editor: For several years the Milton Township Republican Committeeman and friends have volunteered to improve our township for our families and businesses.  In 2013, we plan on building upon this tradition by cleaning a portion of the Prairie Path and raising money for those in need to benefit the Milton Township Food Pantry.  First, on April 27th, 2013, the Milton Township Republican’s and friends will gather to clean a section of the Illinois Prairie Path.  We will meet at the intersection of President and Crescent Street in Wheaton, at 9:30 a.m. Second, on May 18th the organization will have volunteers raising money for the Milton Township Food Pantry at the Wheaton Farmers Market and Taste of Glen Ellyn.  During these tough …

Btw, I have lots of stuff like this, if the "Real Voters" in Milton Township should become aware of the true nature of Township Government and the people behind it - it could become like the Pitch fork and torch time when hundreds show up to the Township HALL (which leaks like a sieve thanks to the no bid renovation by the Chris Hiedorn). and all start to question the management maleficence of …   more ›

Letter to the Editor: Retired Teacher's Solutions for Illinois Pension Crisis

Naperville Patch welcomes letters to the editor. Letters may be submitted to Local Editor Collin Czarnecki at collin.czarnecki@patch.com.

Dear Editor, I am a retired teacher with a vested interest in protecting the integrity of all publicly funded pensions. I am also extremely frustrated that there has been so little consideration of the real underlying problems our State faces: an unfair state income tax structure, an unwillingness to accept reality with regard to a sales tax on services, and an unrealistic repayment schedule for our pension debt. Illinois is one of only 7 states in the nation which employs a flat tax and, until the recently enacted temporary increase, at 3% for individuals was dead last in the rate imposed. Even now, at 5% (until 2015), we are not the most highly taxed of this group. A flat tax is inherently unfair: 83% of states with an income tax and …

Wow, Gerald you are really upset with teachers (you wrote - "screw us again"). You are welcome to move to a district with lower taxes.   more ›

Letter: Include Special Recreation Association in Holiday Giving

Letters to the editor may be submitted for consideration to Local Editor Mary Ann Lopez at maryl@patch.com

Dear Editor: At this time of year, our thoughts turn to family, friends, holiday celebrations, and giving to others.  I am the parent of a 20-year old daughter, Kelsey who has Down Syndrome.  As most parents, I want to provide the best for her.  Kelsey's primary focus right now is to be with friends, and family, have fun and "learn new stuff".   One of the most important parts of Kelsey's life is the time she spends participating in the programs at Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA). Without WDSRA, special needs adults and children wouldn't have opportunities to socialize, travel, learn, and well, just have fun. WDSRA serves more than 4500 adults and children with special needs in more than 1500 recreation programs, …

WDSRA is a fantastic organization as well as all the special recreation associations located throughout DuPage county. It is crucial that these organizations thrive and continue providing programs for special needs individuals of all abilities, from the toddler years all the way through adulthood! Without their support to local park district programs, inclusion would not be possible. My daughter …   more ›

Letter: Join Endorsements for Peter Roskam

Wheaton resident writes in support of Peter Roskam. To send a letter to the editor, email Charlotte@Patch.com.

Wheaton Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor emailed to Local Editor Charlotte Eriksen at Charlotte@patch.com, or sent as a message through the Wheaton Patch Facebook page. Please note in subject lines the message is a Letter to the Editor. ------------ I was pleased to see that Peter Roskam was endorsed by both the Daily Herald and the Chicago Tribune to be our representative here in the Sixth Congressional District. Both note that Roskam can help solve the economic issues of the day and will be an influential voice at the table for our district by, for one thing, focusing on rewriting our cumbersome federal tax code. I hope that you’ll join these endorsements by voting for Peter Roskam on November 6th. Let’s send a man of …

Letter: It's Up to Humans to Solve Coyote Problem

To send a letter to the editor, email Charlotte@patch.com.

Wheaton Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor emailed to Local Editor Charlotte Eriksen at Charlotte@patch.com, or sent as a message through the Wheaton Patch Facebook page. Please note in subject lines the message is a Letter to the Editor. ------------ Dear Charlotte,   I am in total agreement with every point made in Kathy O'Brien's letter.   Our home backs up to  a retention area, and behind that is the Arboraetum. We fully understand that in a location such as this we can expect to experience a little more wildlife than in your typical Wheaton neighborhood. We are used to the raccoons, skunks, squirrels, we look forward to seeing deer in the Winter, and we have for years heard the far away howls of coyotes late in the …

I have to be blunt Charolette. I know a lot more parent's who are teaching their children to be "little monsters" than coyotes that should be defined as such. A very, very few coyotes can be defined as a problem or agressive but the vast majority are actually docile. I, for one worry a lot more about some parents! What do you think?   more ›

Letter: Obama Administration 'Undermined National Interest'

Wheaton resident writes, "it's time to throw the rascals out," of the Obama administration.

------------- Dear Editor: As I see it President Obama won by a landslide in 2008.  He had a program of hope, but inherited a severe economic recession from the Bush administration – failure to regulate irresponsible mortgages and engaging in wars without provision to pay for them. The President in a spirit of debt limitation and compromise adopted a very inadequate stimulus package which even so the Republicans opposed.  The President extended health care to 14 million heretofore uncovered…

Please note in subject lines the message is a Letter to the Editor. --------- Dear Editor, As a graduate student with friends out of work, I hear gloomy reports every day about our stagnant 8% unemployment rate, and the crucial need for jobs and economic growth.   I recently learned that Peter Roskam, a Congressman running for reelection in the Sixth Congressional District, has been instrumental in passing several free trade agreements that have and will continue to help businesses here and across the country.  Peter Roskam has traveled to three countries …

Letter: Leslie Coolidge for Congress

Lake Zurich resident writes in support of Leslie Coolidge for Congress.

Letter to the Editor, Leslie Coolidge, the Democratic candidate for Congress, is running against Peter Roskam, one of the truly gifted Republican candidates; he’s gifted with Republican money, with a social focus so narrow one could call it laser-like, with insight into women’s lives that allows him to justify controlling women’s choices, and with a sense of political responsibility that allows him to focus solely on attacking Obama to the exclusion (and detriment) of constituent needs. …
