Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) is among those that have been burglarized this year and the senator says he's pushing for state legislation that will help local law enforcement investigate such burglaries. "I am trying to curtail the number of residential burglaries which has swept through the western suburbs ... and other parts of the city," Dillard said during a Friday morning conference call with media members. State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) will serve as the assistant Senate Republican leader during the new session of the Illinois General Assembly, according to a release from Dillard's office. A bill sponsored in 2012 by State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) will prohibit sex offenders from participating in holiday events involving children as of Jan. 1.
An Illinois law that takes effect Jan. 1 will officially prohibit convicted sex offenders from participating in holiday events—from dressing up as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny to handing out candy on Halloween. Offenders who break this law (SB 3579/PA 97-0699) could be subject to fines or revocation of their parole or probation, and could face additional jail time, according to a press release from Senator Kirk Dillard's office. State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) will serve another term in the Illinois Senate after a convincing win in Tuesday's General Election over Democratic candidate A. Ghani of Oak Brook in the race for Illinois' 24th State Senate District. Dillard won by getting 64,920 of 99,080 DuPage votes Tuesday from the 24th, which spans across the westerns suburbs and includes, among other towns, Clarendon Hills, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, Lisle, Lombard, Oak Brook, Western Springs, Westmont and Wheaton. More than a half-dozen gubernatorial wannabes work the room at the Republican National Convention this week. Who would you like to see make a run for governor?
While the main events at the Republican National Convention centered around Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, a subtle undercard was the jockeying of would-be GOP candidates for Illinois governor, the Chicago Tribune reports. State Treasurer Dan Rutherford was "highly visible" at the RNC in Tampa, according to the Tribune article by Rick Pearson. Rutherford heads up the Romney campaign in Illinois. Kirk Dillard of Hinsdale, who finished a close second to Bloomington's Bill Brady in the 2010 primary race for governor, has been a prominent face, as well. The state senator gave a presentation Monday night at Elm School focused on the future of teacher pensions.
State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) spoke to the District 181 Board of Education Monday night at Elm School about several topics, but the main point of the 20-minute discussion was the future of teacher pensions. Dillard advocated increased communication between the school board and the senator's office about the future of teacher pensions, currently funded by the state, at a time when the Illinois government is in big fiscal trouble and may be looking to pass that funding responsibility on to local school boards and resident property taxes.
