The two men charged with the Aug. 18 murder of Megan Boken, a St. Francis and St. Louis University alum, will be on trial. Keith Esters, 18, of Bel Ridge, MO, reportedly admitted he was involved in the shooting of Boken. His accused accomplice, Johnathan Perkins, told police he agreed to drive Esters to St. Louis for a robbery. Perkins allegedly stopped the car to let Esters out for the robbery. He then allegedly parked the car within sight of the shooting, waited for Esters and drove him away from the scene. According to the statement, Esters told police he saw Megan Boken on her phone, and chose her as the target of a robbery. He then approached her with the gun and while trying to rob her, he shot her twice, the document states. …

A DuPage County Judge will allow defense to include details of a September 2011 home invasion near Wheaton.
The defense for Kerin Ramirez, who is charged with home invasion and aggravated battery after an incident in September 2011, will tell jurors the man was drunk when he entered an off-duty police officer's home and was shot in an altercation, the Daily Herald reports. DuPage County Judge George Bakalis Thursday denied a request from prosecutors to bar the defense from including the information during the trial, according to the Daily Herald. Ramirez, 20, is accused of breaking into the home of a Wood Dale police officer’s home on Papworth Street, near Wheaton, during the morning of September 24, 2011. Kerin Ramirez now scheduled for late-April trial.
The scheduled start of a trial in the case of a man accused of breaking into an off-duty police officer’s home has been pushed back three weeks. Kerin Ramirez, who is charged with home invasion and aggravated battery in the September incident, was supposed to begin his trial Tuesday morning. However, an unavailable witness prompted prosecutors to ask for a delay. Judge George Bakalis reset the trial for April 24. Ramirez is accused of breaking into the home of a Wood Dale police officer’s home on Papworth Street, near Wheaton, during the morning of Sept. 24.
