Wheaton Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor emailed to Local Editor Charlotte Eriksen at Charlotte@patch.com, or sent as a message through the Wheaton Patch Facebook page. Please note in subject lines the message is a Letter to the Editor. ------------ To the Editor: I recently learned that I am a part of the newly redrawn 6th Congressional district in which Congressman Peter Roskam is running for reelection. Congressman Roskam is a fiscal conservative and a firmbeliever that private industry job creation is the key to the reversal of President Obama’s current policies that favor higher tax rates and even heavier federal spending. Roskam also favors the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and will work in a bipartisan …

Please note in subject lines the message is a Letter to the Editor. The choice is ours in the newly formed 6th Congressional District. The Republican incumbent, Peter Roskam, always votes the party line. Leslie Coolidge, the Democratic challenger, has moderate views and is not afraid to express what she sees as great potential for this country. Peter Roskam voted to cut hundreds of jobs at Fermilab in our area, and voted for tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Leslie Coolidge supports targeted incentives and job skill training that will …

Wheaton Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor emailed to Local Editor Charlotte Eriksen at Charlotte@patch.com, or sent as a message through the Wheaton Patch Facebook page. Please note in subject lines the message is a Letter to the Editor. Letter to the Editor, Leslie Coolidge, the Democratic candidate for Congress, is running against Peter Roskam, one of the truly gifted Republican candidates; he’s gifted with Republican money, with a social focus so narrow one could call it laser-like, with insight into women’s lives that allows him to justify controlling women’s choices, and with a sense of political responsibility that allows him to focus solely on attacking Obama to the exclusion (and detriment) of constituent needs. …

Wheaton Patch accepts and publishes letters to the editor emailed to Local Editor, Charlotte Eriksen at Charlotte@patch.com, or sent as a message through the Wheaton Patch Facebook page. We are living in very precarious times, where selfish desires and attention-seeking behavior seem to take precedence in Washington. Humility and principled behavior just don’t seem to be qualities many of our public officials possess. And the consequences are costly on many levels. The good news is that we are very fortunate here in the 6th Congressional District to be represented in Washington by Peter Roskam. I am continually impressed with his ability to have an ongoing and genuine conversation with his constituency. Whether in person, during Tele-…

You can also submit it via a Facebook message to the Wheaton Patch Facebook page. Recently I had an enlightening visit with Leslie Coolidge, our Democratic Congressional candidate in the 6th District. Leslie spelled out her goals for serving in Congress. She explained how she would propose to cut Medicare costs and improve the image of the U.S. in the world. Her view is that the U.S. is still the only superpower, and with focused leadership, there is no reason we cannot have a very bright future. Investing in our infrastructure is very important to Leslie. A green economy can provide new jobs…

I want to make an informed decision that is not manipulated by the internet, radio or television. Have you ever asked yourself, “What are they accomplishing in Washington?” I investigated this question in early August. I sat down at my computer and started to search. I stumbled upon www.opencongress.org, which listed all …

Don’t be fooled! Peter Roskam and Todd Akin are birds of a feather. We may be appalled by Akin’s ridiculous claims about legitimate rape not resulting in pregnancy, but both Roskam and Akin are of the same mind when it comes to women, women’s rights and women’s health. Peter Roskam is a proud co-sponsor of HR 3, which redefines rape to narrow a woman’s right to choose. Both Roskam & Akin would like to redefine to separate so-called “forcible rape” from statutory rape. As our President said, “rape is rape.” Gentlemen, do you really want to legitimize rape that results from adults taking advantage of vulnerable, underage children? Shame on you Peter Roskam! If you are skeptical, just look at Roskam’s voting record on women’s issues…

The residents’ of the 6th Congressional District have been represented for several decades by two of the greatest Congressmen in my lifetime: Henry Hyde and now Peter Roskam. Both have been men of integrity and fiscal responsibility. I have appreciated how these men have served their country and constituents well. Unfortunately, I no longer reside in the 6th District. However, I will continue to encourage everyone to vote for Peter. Peter takes time to listen to the people he represents and has a genuine desire to be their spokesman in Congress. Peter Roskam is one of the wisest and most articulate members of Congress and is fighting hard to spur job growth, balance the budget, and combat excessive federal regulations. I encourage every …
