I can’t help but wonder who was the home owner who “specifically [chose]” this “center piece… due to its unique shape as a phallus.” Really? That’s what you want in the heart of your rock garden? To be honest, I don’t even really see it. (It’s kind of… roundish.) But if you also have some sort of odd Freudian thing going on, you can get it for $50 from a Lombard seller. Someone in Lombard is looking to hire a clown. Not to entertain kids, but to “come hang out, drink a beer, some food, talk to people, maybe creep my friends out a …

It's Police Week in the United States; in that spirit, we asked our local readers in DuPage County what they appreciate most about their local force.
Did you know that this week—May 13-20—is officially Police Week in the United States? According to PoliceWeek.org: In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. In the spirit of the week, we reached out to our DuPage County readers on Facebook and asked what they appreciate most about their local police departments. Here’s some of what readers shared with us: Carol Gog: “Back in the nineties, I locked my keys in …

Final Fantasy VII is one of the most classic video games of all time, and its hero Cloud Strife’s Buster sword a memorable (and absurdly gigantic) blade. Relive it with this Wheaton seller’s $100 metal replica, 4’4” tall, sharp and never used, perfect for your epic final battle against Sephiroth. Or, y’know, for your costume at the next convention that comes to town. Renting a limousine can be so expensive—so why not just buy one? If you’ve got $8,500 to burn, this 1999 white stretch limo from Villa Park can be yours, complete …

Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. Patch has already reported on the story of the Elmhurst pet iguana who apparently attacked the person stealing him so badly that police were able to get DNA from the perp’s blood on the porch. Now thanks to this post, we know his name is Steve and he is the family’s “closest member.” We salute you, Steve, and hope you are found soon! This NBA Barbie wears the Chicago Bulls No. 1, so apparently she’s like Derrick Rose, except perhaps without the part where her SAT scores wipe out a college team’s entire season. Well, actually, she’…

I learned today that former French president Nicolas Sarkozy gifted President Obama a $7,750 golf bag at one point (he didn’t keep it.) Don’t quite get that, and I certainly don’t quite get why this garage-sale-looking bag out of Elmhurst is worth $4,250, the price of eight and a half rounds at Pebble Beach, or about 100 at White Pines. But apparently it’s “rare,” and if that’s good enough for you, get your checkbook out! Kitten emergency! Kitten needed right now in Villa Park! Preferably five-to-seven weeks old, and tiger-striped…

Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. I personally think it’s a little odd to have the place one puts one’s posterior to be shaped like an enormous hand, but this kids’ chair from Wheaton (complete with puzzle piece-shaped footstool) does look rather comfortable in its hypnotizing (if slightly faded) blue. (Hand chairs always make me think of Arrested Development, too…) The $100 price is firm; no word on if the chair’s caress is. Avian imagery is big in the culture of “Star Trek” Romulans, Wikipedia tells me, so that explains this “Bird of Prey” wicked double-bladed …

How crazy is it out there right now? Please show us! Upload your pictures of flooding from DuPage County towns here.
Note: when uploading photos/video, please include a caption with the town and street where they were taken. Thank you! By 7 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service in Romeoville had the total rainfall amount at 3.24 inches for the previous 24 hours. Then it rained some more. And it's not forecast to stop until Friday morning. What does the scene look like for you? Are there several feet of water outside your home (or, heaven forbid, inside it)? Stranded cars; flooded lawns and streets? If you’re lucky enough not to be too busy dealing with any emergencies right now (and we hope you are), we’d love to see what you see, and our readership likely would as well. If you have any great snapshots/photographs of the flooding around DuPage …

Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. Who wouldn't want a life-sized statue of Ray Park's dark Sith Lord character reddening up their living room? Well, a lot of people, probably. But if you're not one of them, you can get this bad boy for $3,500 from an Elmhurst seller. And! It "comes with a heavy metal MR-Master Replica Light Up Double Blade Lightsaber with sound!" Because nobody wants a quiet life-size Darth Maul statue. A dining set that involves jars with "possum livers," "frog brain" and life-like rats strikes me as a bit unappetizing, but these Goth-y dishes …

Note: Patch has no control over the status of these posts on Craigslist and how long they remain available. Thirsty? These Wheaton sellers have just the thing: two 24-packs of Coke from the early 1990s ... over 20 years old. Would it have gone flat by now? Would it kill you? Or would it still just taste like Coke? I have absolutely no idea. If you dare to find out, these two cases are going for $24 apiece, apparently a discount since they're valued at $5 a bottle. At $499, this Glen Ellyn poster definitely thinks you're getting a discount on their excellent tree house, which looks like a little kid's dream (custom built, trap-door …

They're looking for a Son of God who is a "smug, New Age-ish hippie... born on third base and thought he hit a triple." Well, that seems slightly controversial? Never fear: "Jesus is not depicted as a negative character; no disrespect intended to the Christian or any other faith," the post says. In any case, they're looking for a 25-40-year-old actor to start filming in May. "Se vende restaurante Mexicano en Lombard," this post declares, …
