Weather Service Issues Overnight Flood Watch

Storms could produce up to two inches of rainfall and 60 mph winds, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Cook, DuPage and Kane counties, effective until 4 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30. Showers and thunderstorms will continue through the night, with possible rainfalls of up to two inches.  The storm could also produce winds of up to 6 mph and isolated tornadoes, according to NWS.  The chance for rain before 2 p.m. Wednesday is 80 percent, with a chance for less than an inch of snow later in the day as the temperature drops. Temperatures will fall to about 27 degrees by 5 p.m. DuPage County Stormwater Management is anticipating activation of the County’s flood control facilities early Wednesday morning based on forecasted precipitation, according to a DuPage County press release.
