Sister Francis Clarke of Wheaton died Nov. 27.
Obituary courtesy of Williams-Kampp Funeral Home: Sister Francis (Rita) Clarke, devoted member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary for 69 years, died November 27, 2012, at Resurrection Life Center in Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Pauline (Zahn) Clarke, and her sister Mary. Sr. Francis ministered in the field of education. Former students may remember her from St. Bride and as the IBVM Sister who opened Loretto Kindergarten in Wheaton, IL. Visitation was Monday at Resurrection Life Center, 7370 W. Obituary courtesy of Williams-Kampp Funeral Home: Ralph W. Lambe, 96, went peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, November 20th, 2012. He was born July 2nd, 1916 where he lived all his life in Wheaton. He grew up at 211 W. Indiana St. He was the son of Mary Craigmile and William Lambe. In 1939 he married Dolores, and together they raised six children, Donald (Susan), Sandra Poeschl, Ronald (Carol), Sharyn (Kenneth) Wojciechowski, Stephen (Linda), and Janice (Joseph) Dimas. Grandpa enlisted into the Navy during WWII to be trained as an electricians mate. He served on the U.S.S Kline until his discharge on November 1st , 1945. He was born February 8, 1931 in Chicago to William and Ruth Mitchell. Bill grew up on the south side of Chicago. He attended Illinois Weslyan University and then graduated from the University of Oklahoma on a swimming scholarship. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. After his service he went to the Northwestern University School of Law. In September of 1957 he married Mary Jo McAvoy. Elfstrom, a nearly fifty year resident of Wheaton and recently of West Chicago, died November 3 at the DuPage County Convalescent Center after a long illness following a fall at his home in May 2008. He was born July 1, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Wendell Christy Elfstrom. He attended school there and graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids in 1952. He was part of the school's R.O.T.C. program and entered the United States Air Force after graduation. A first lieutenant, he was assigned as the Base Photo officer at Smoky Hill Army Air Force Base near Salina, Kansas. The Korean War ended before he was sent overseas.
