A visitation for John "Dan" Thorne of Wheaton will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Hultgren Funeral Home.
Obituary courtesy of Hultgren Funeral Home: John Daniel "Dan" Thorne, age 69, a lifelong resident of the Wheaton, IL area, succumbed to his battle with cancer on Saturday, February 9, 2013. He died at home surrounded by his children. He was born July 10, 1943 at Delnor Hospital in St. Charles, IL. Dan served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-71, stationed first at Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois, then on a submarine tender at the Holy Loch base in Scotland, and finally at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. After his military service he returned to Wheaton and worked as a property manager for the family business for several decades, and then as a handyman until his retirement.
