Barbara Meagher of Carol Stream remains in critical condition at Loyola University Medical Center with injuries sustained last week after she was hit by a car on Geneva Road. Meagher, 52, is off a ventilator and is somewhat communicative, police said. According to a release from the Wheaton Police Department, Barbara Jean Meagher, 52, was crossing Geneva Road from the south entrance of Home Depot around 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, when she was hit by an eastbound car driving in the curb lane. Updated 12:21 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 A Carol Stream woman is in critical condition with serious injuries sustained Monday after she was hit by a car on Geneva Road. According to a release from the Wheaton Police Department, Barbara Jean Meagher, 52, was crossing Geneva Road from the south entrance of Home Depot around 3:30 p.m. when she was hit by an eastbound car driving in the curb lane. Wheaton Police Chief Mark Field said Wednesday about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Meagher was responsive, but still in critical condition at Loyola University Medical Center. Meagher suffered serious injuries and was transported to Central DuPage Hospital before being airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where she remains in critical condition…

A friend of mine saw the woman on the street with her dog walking around her. I don't know if it was dark at the moment of the accident but I think it was overcast so the light was low and she appeared to be crossing well away from the cross walk.
