Winfield Resident One of First Class of FEMA Corps Members

Chelsea Steck of Winfield led a team to work with survivors of Hurricane Sandy and support disaster recovery centers through a new unit of the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC).

Chelsea Steck of Winfield is one of hundreds of young leaders returning from a recent deployment to New Jersey and New York as part of the nation’s first class of FEMA Corps, a new unit of the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC). FEMA Corps is a partnership between the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) for individuals ages 18 to 24. Hurricane Sandy is part of a 10-month term of full-time service in disaster response and recovery projects, according to a press release from CNCS. Let Patch save you time.
