COD Named in Discrimination Lawsuit

Former employee cites harassment by supervisor and rights violation in claims against college.

A former College of DuPage grant writer has sued the school on claims officials fired her because of medical problems and as an act of retaliation, according to court records. Jennifer Wittstock, who filed suit last month, worked at the school from May 2010 until March 2011. During that time, she endured harassment and discriminatory actions by a supervisor. Wittstock, of Oswego, also contends a congenital disease she has had since birth qualifies her for protection from an unjust employment termination under the Illinois Human Rights Act. “My life and the lives of my family have been tremendously affected by the actions of the college’s officials,” Wittstock stated in an email. “I am relieved I will have the opportunity to present …

Glen Ellyn Man Accused of Inappropriately Touching 2 Girls at St. Charles Target

Nicolas E. Muniz, 24, faces battery and disorderly conduct charges following an investigation by St. Charles Police officers.

A Glen Ellyn man was arrested Sunday afternoon for allegedly "inappropriately" touching two minor girls on two separate occasions at a St. Charles retail store. Nicolas E. Muniz, 24, of Glen Ellyn was charged May 13 with two counts of battery and two counts of disorderly conduct for inappropriate contact with a 16 and 14-year-old girl at Target, 3885 E. Main St., St. Charles. After reports of the touching incidents on May 11 and 12 were filed, St. Charles officers contacted Target loss prevention officers who reviewed store videos and were able to provide suspect and vehicle information.  St. Charles officers set up surveillance on May 13 and saw a man and vehicle matching Muniz' description pull into the store parking lot. Metra Announces Search, Limited Carry-Ons for NATO Summit

Starting Saturday, May 19, Metra riders might be subject to a search before boarding the train. And you can forget about that morning cup of coffee.

Metra riders were informed today (Monday, May 14) that they'll be subject to a search and have limited carry-on baggage during the NATO summit scheduled for Chicago May 19 through May 21. So don't bother stopping by Caribou on your way to the Wheaton station. A passenger bulletin distributed by Metra says there will be "temporary conditions to board" a Metra train from Saturday, May 19, through Monday, May 21. According to the checklist, all Metra riders: The Metra release says law enforcement personnel riding the train must identify themselves and present their credentials and any weapons.
