Charles Colson, a former special counsel to President Richard Nixon and figure in the 1972 Watergate scandal, died Saturday, Apr. 21 in Fairfax, VA. He was 80. In 1976, Colson founded the Prison Fellowship International (PFI), one of the world's largest outreaches to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families, according to the Wheaton College website. Theodore S. "Ted" Duncan, 86, of Wheaton, passed away on April 4, 2012. He was the loving husband of Alice (nee Novak) Duncan for 57 years; beloved father of Ted Jr. (Terry), Marcia (Michael) Duncan, Judy (Rick) DeWitt, David (Mary Lou), and Margaret (Jeremy) Sauer; dear grandfather of Claire and Jack DeBoer, Jacqueline, Daniel, and Charlie DeWitt, and Evelyn and Kathryn Sauer. George H. Shorney, 80, died peacefully on March 31, 2012 in Naples, Fla., after a three-year battle with lung cancer. George was born on Dec. 16, 1931 in Oak Park. He was a graduate of Oak Park and River Forest High School and Denison University, and served for two years in the U.S. Navy. He married Nancy Leith in 1955, and they settled permanently in Wheaton in 1960. Nancy died in May 2011. In 1958, George went to work for Hope Publishing, a family-run church music publishing business. He served as Hope's president from 1970-1991 and chairman from 1992 until his retirement in 2001. George was heavily involved and highly regarded in the church music publishing world, serving four terms as president of the Church Music Publishers …

Robert W. Miller, 73, a 35-year resident of Wheaton, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012. He was born Nov. 2, 1938 in Greentown, Ind., and raised in Kokomo, Ind. Robert and his late wife Charlotte met at and graduated from Purdue University and were married on June 12, 1960. He worked for IBM as a systems engineer until his retirement in 2000. His local community service included the District 200 School Board, as a founding member pf S.A.S.E.D., as a member of the Warrenville Kiwanis, on the achurch council member at St. Paul Lutheran Church, s auditor at Vasa Park in South Elgin and as board member for the Village of Adare Farm Association. Beverly Keenan of Wheaton died Friday, Feb. 17 at home, after a long battle with cancer. She was 61. She was born December 15, 1951 in St. Charles. She is survived by her husband, Jim; her father, Edward; a brother, Bill; her in-laws, Sue, Chris, Patrick and Jean; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at Williams-Woodward Funeral Home, 82- Pine Street, West Chicago and at 9 a.m. Friday until a 10 a.m. service at Parkview Community Church, 764 St. Charles Road, Glen Ellyn. Rosemary Monihan of Wheaton died Friday, Feb. 17. She was 91. She was born May 29, 1920 in Chicago. She is survived by two daughters, Maureen and Sheilah; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Courtney, David, Jeanne and Kathryn; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Anthony, Maeve, Christopher, Samantha and Caroline; a sister, Eileen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William; and a sister, Nancy. Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 19 and a memorial service was Monday, Feb. 20.

Robert Miller of Wheaton died Saturday, Feb. 11. He was 84. He was born August 27, 1927 in Chicago. After high school he enlisted in the service. His military career included the Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. He served during WWII and Korean War. While in the Air Force he found he had a passion for flying. Eventually he was able to realize a lifelong dream to own a plane allowing him the freedom of flight. He and his son spent many hours in the air. His other pastimes were playing football, baseball, bowling and fishing. Sr. Therese Rooney, IBVM of Wheaton, a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary for 71 years, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. She was 89. She was born in March 3, 1922 in Chicago. An artist and historian, she taught in Chicago at St. Cyril, St. Bride, St. Bernard, and Loretto Academy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Catherine Rooney; her brother, William; and her sister, Rita.
