Come Meet the Dog Who Survived Three Weeks in the Wild, and Her Rescuers

On Saturday, meet the dog that brought a community together at Elmhurst Animal Care Center.

Joanie the rescue dog has gained quite a following since her big adventure through Glen Ellyn and Wheaton earlier this month. She was running scared for three weeks in frigid temperatures before finally being coaxed to safety on Dec. 21. She is now safely back in the loving home of her foster mom, Karen Clarke of Elmhurst.

To welcome the 3-year-old golden retriever mix home and to thank the dozens of humans who helped save her, Magnificent Mutts Rescue is hosting a reception from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Elmhurst Animal Care Center, 850 S. Riverside Drive.
