In addition, Hagen is a Junior Zookeeper volunteer at Cosley Zoo, something she has done for 6 years. She handles animals, educates the public about conservation and native Illinois species, and attends monthly meetings.

"Both of these activites have fueled my passion for animals and the environment," said Hagen.

In school, Hagen has been a part of the newspaper as a writer and editor since her freshman year. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. She is also a player on United Girls Lacrosse, which is a co-op team for Wheaton North and South.

She plans on studying Biology in college, but is not sure where she wants to attend. In her spare time, Hagen loves to read, be outside, spend time with her friends and watch movies.
