Help Support/Donate to local Speedskaters training for the 2014 Sochi Olympics

Hi guys! We’re Nancy (2010 Olympian) and Jeffrey Swider-Peltz Jr., brother and sister speedskaters from the suburbs of Chicago. Along with our 4x Olympic speedskater mom as our coach (Nancy Sr.), our goal is to make the 2014 winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia together.

We have a regularly updated blog at: TeamSwiderPeltz.com and we are going to feed those posts into this blog to keep local friends, supporters and sport fans updated on another platform that can reach more people, but because today we have just posted live our crowd-funding RallyMe.com site, I am focusing this first blog post on what this is all about...

Both Jeffrey, my brother, and I are trying to raise money to help fund our training, travel and competitions leading up to the Olympic Trials starting this December 27th, 2013, and for the rest of the 2013-14 Olympic season. It’s not the easiest thing to ask for support through a crowd-funding source like our RallyMe, but we really appreciate you just listening to our story. And if you like what we’re doing you can help us out at our site here: https://www.rallyme.com/rallies/187 but if not, your prayers and encouragement are really just as important! We want our supporters to have fun following our progress, to feel a part of our team, and to be proud of what we achieve.

Like many of the other awesome athletes on the RallyMe site, we must train at the highest level but also deal with the stress of having enough money to do it since there often isn’t much commercial money to support winter sport athletes. On top of that, because we have a private coach and choose to train in Milwaukee, we cannot be part of the National team and the services provided to them in Salt Lake City. Consequently, over the last couple years, we have developed our own network of people who have helped us out so far with their services and are indebted to them. But at the same time, the other costs like our coach's travel to and from Milwaukee and car lease, competitions- airfare/hotel/transportation, equipment i.e. blades, health insurance, and our house rent in Milwaukee have hurt us financially.

We have gotten this far into our careers because of the generosity of so many family, friends, and people that have already put their services and financial means into our journey. We couldn't have gotten this far without them, but to continue to move forward, we are enlisting your help!

Thanks a lot, and again, Jeffrey and I love what we are doing, have a passion to succeed, but at the same time, know that we were given this talent for a greater purpose.
