Morningside Group Taps Former Wheaton Resident to Oversee Completion of Wheaton 121

Chicago-based Morningside Group has hired Rob Guth as construction superintendant to oversee the completion of construction at Wheaton 121, a luxury community of 306 rental homes located at 121 N. Cross St. in downtown Wheaton.

Guth, 38, has longtime ties to the Wheaton community, having grown up in the area and attended St. Francis High School in Wheaton. He also began his 17-year career in construction with a Wheaton firm, Williams Development, Ltd.

“We are very excited to have Rob joining the team for the final phases of construction at Wheaton 121,” said David Strosberg, president of Morningside Group. “He brings to the project a great deal of industry experience coupled with a personal connection to the Wheaton community, and we know he is uniquely committed to the quality of the team and success of the development.”

Prior to joining Morningside Group, Guth served as senior projects manager for Gallant Building Solutions in Crystal Lake, Ill. and, before that, as project superintendant for Sjostrom & Sons, Inc., in Rockford, Ill. He attended the College of DuPage and earned a degree in construction management from South Illinois University.

“Because of my personal ties to Wheaton, I was very familiar with the Wheaton 121 development. In fact, my in-laws live just a couple of blocks from the site. So when the opportunity arose to oversee the construction, I was thrilled,” said Guth. “I enjoy working on a development of this size and scope, and am excited about the positive impact Wheaton 121 will have on the downtown and Wheaton as a whole.”

The six-story development was designed by FitzGerald Associates Architects, and includes floor plans ranging from studio to three-bed/two-bath plans, all of which include private outdoor space. Wheaton 121 will offer luxury amenities including a second-level courtyard with a heated swimming pool, BBQ stations, fire pit, lounge areas, a dog run, and a bocce court.

The building will also include an upscale community room with a catering kitchen, separate business center and conference room; a state-of-the-art theatre room; and a large health club-quality fitness center and yoga area. Additional features include concierge service, heated indoor garage parking with elevator access to units, security monitoring cameras, controlled entry access, resident package receiving, on-site maintenance staff, car wash and tire fill station, dog washing station, heated indoor bike storage, and individual storage lockers for each unit.
