Models Open as Move-in Date Approaches at Wheaton 121 Luxury Apartments

As construction nears completion at Wheaton 121, developer Morningside Group has opened two decorated models onsite at the luxury apartment community at 121 N. Cross Street in Wheaton, Ill. Additionally, the development’s upscale lobby, onsite leasing and management office, state-of-the-art theater, and multi-use community room are also complete and open to the public for viewing.

“There has been a lot of excitement surrounding the opening of our model apartments because we actually had leased about 20 percent of the building based on floor plans alone,” said David Strosberg, president of Chicago-based Morningside. “So not only are there many prospective residents who want to see what the apartments look like, but also the dozens of people who will be moving in later this year. It’s been a lot of fun showing them their future home after months of only seeing two-dimensional floor plans and renderings.”

Over the opening weekend of July 13 and 14, more than 300 people toured the models, which include a one-bedroom/one-bath plan and a two-bedroom/two-bath plan. Like all apartments at Wheaton 121, the models feature 9-foot ceilings, granite countertops in the kitchens and baths, stainless steel appliances, kitchen islands, wood floors, ceramic tile in the baths, high-end plumbing and light fixtures, individually controlled gas forced-air furnaces and central air-conditioning, and in-unit washers and dryers.

Available floor plans at the 306-unit building include loft townhome, studio, one bedroom/one bath, two bedroom/one bath, two bedroom/two bath, and three bedroom/two bath plans. Residences range from 558 to 1,509 square feet and each unit includes private outdoor space.

There are 16 different layout options available at Wheaton 121 which, according to Strosberg, adds to the building’s appeal. “We see downsizers drawn to the plans with private, street-level entrances because they are reminiscent of a single-family home, while young professionals seem to want the energy of a courtyard amenity view,” he said. “We offer renters at Wheaton 121 a lot of choices in terms of square-footage, floor plan, views, outdoor space and views. We’re raising the bar in terms of what it means to rent a luxury home in DuPage County.”

Strosberg also noted that Wheaton 121 offers a host of impressive amenities. Those include a second-level courtyard with a heated swimming pool, BBQ stations, fire pit, lounge areas, a dog run and a bocce court. The building will also offer an upscale community room with a catering kitchen, separate business center and conference room; a state-of-the-art theatre room; and a large health club-quality fitness center and yoga area.

Additional features include concierge service, heated indoor garage parking with elevator access to units, security monitoring cameras, controlled entry access, resident package receiving, on-site maintenance staff, car wash and tire fill station, dog washing station, heated indoor bike storage, and individual storage lockers for each unit.

“Wheaton 121 is a true stand-out when it comes to multi-family living anywhere in DuPage County,” Strosberg said. “We’re bringing design and amenities many think you can only find in new Chicago high rises to the suburbs, and the response has been fantastic.”

Designed by Fitzgerald Associates Architects, the six-story building combines modern design with the historic character of Wheaton’s surrounding downtown.

Wheaton 121 is steps from the Metra station, Prairie Path, library, Adams Park, local shops and restaurants, and other businesses in the downtown Wheaton business district.

Residents will also enjoy Morningside Group’s V.I.P. program, which provides exclusive deals and discounts to businesses throughout downtown Wheaton.

First move-ins will be in September, with rents starting at $1,265 a month.
