A Peek in the People's Resource Center Pantry

Fun Facts from People's Resource Center

Today, let’s start with a visit to the Food Pantry. On average, PRC purchases 16,000 pounds of food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank, enough to distribute to a week’s worth of clients. It’s supplemented by donations from local businesses, including Target, Panera Bread, Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, Jewel and food drives and community donations which add about 6,000 lbs. each week.  In fact, more than half of the food in the food pantry is donated to us by the local community.  Thanks to you, we’re able to provide food to 3,000 DuPage families each month.

People’s Resource Center is also getting ready for another session of free computer training. Volunteers teach basic computer, Microsoft Word, Excel or Power Point classes to low-income citizens at locations throughout DuPage County. The new 7-week sessions begin September 3 and those who complete a class get a free, refurbished computer for their home. PRC is a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher, which enables us to put Microsoft software on each machine. We have given out over 9,000 donated computers to students in need.
