Traffic: 4th of July Closures, Delays

Wheaton roads will be backed up and closed during the Fourth of July celebrations next week.

The 2012 Display in Wheaton will Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the DuPage County Fairgrounds beginning at 7:30 p.m. and concluding at 10:30 p.m.

During this time period, motorists can expect traffic delays on:

  • North County Farm Road between West Roosevelt Road and Geneva Road
  • Manchester Road between East Street (Winfield) and North Gables Boulevard, and
  • Surrounding neighborhood side streets in the vicinity of the DuPage County Fairgrounds.

Motorists are asked to adhere to parking regulations and posted signs as well as exercise care for pedestrians going to and from this event.

Fourth of July Parade

The 2012 Fourth of July will be Wednesday, July 4, 2012 beginning at 10 a.m. and concluding at noon.

The following major streets will be closed for this event:

  • North Main Street between Geneva Road and West Wesley Street
  • West Wesley Street between North Main Street and West Street
  • West Street between West Wesley and Front Street and
  • Front Street between West Street and North Cross.
  • Several side streets along North Main Street will be temporarily closed for the staging of parade entrants.

During these time periods, these streets will be adequately staffed with uniformed Police Officers to assist and direct traffic for both events.
