Wheaton Warrenville South Preps for Shot at Third Title

IHSA Class 7A championship game happens Saturday at 4 p.m.

Aside from turkey and the frenzy of Black Friday shopping, Thanksgiving weekend also means high school football champions will be decided.

For the third consecutive season, Wheaton Warrenville South is looking to walk off the field at Memorial Stadium in Champaign with the title.

The Tigers haven't lost a playoff game since the first round in 2008, posting a 27-1 record over the last two season on their way to Class 7A championships. Although 2011 hasn't been a typical campaign from a record standpoint, the 10-3 Tigers reached the title game with an impressive run in the playoffs by defeating the likes of Providence Catholic, East St. Louis and St. Rita.

Standing in the way for the Tigers is undefeated Rockford Boylan, which won the Class 6A title in 2010. The Titans are 13-0 and outscored opponents 531-102. Boylan knocked off Wheaton North in this year's second round.

CSN Chicago will televise the game this year's 7A championship game at 4 p.m.
