Wheaton North Football, Soccer Players Sign With Colleges

Wheaton North High School seniors commit to play in college on National Signing Day.

Three Wheaton North High School seniors have signed on with college football programs Wednesday, National Signing Day.

Wheaton North Head Coach Joel Wardynski said in an email defensive end Kellen Cleveland signed with the Air Force Academy, running back Patrick Sharp signed with the University of North Dakota and defensive back Jaylen Howze signed with Minnesota State Moorhead.

Sharp was a three-year varsity starter for the Falcons who earned first team DuPage Valley All-Conference honors his junior and senior years. He was named to the all-area team as a senior. He rushed for 777 yards and 13 touchdowns and finished his high school career with 2,300 yards rushing and 25 touchdowns, according to the University of North Dakota athletics website.

Howze is a two-time all-conference and two-time all-area player who finished his 2012 season with 43 tackles, four interceptions and 3.5 sacks, according to Minnesota State Moorhead Athletics.

North will also graduate Jessica Kiely, a goalkeeper who signed with the Eastern Illinois University soccer team.
