Wheaton North QB Thorson Prepping with 7-on-7

The Northwestern recruit and presumptive 2013 Falcons starter returns this fall after suffering a broken collarbone in the 2012 playoffs.

The likely quarterback for the 2013 Wheaton North Falcons football team, Clayton Thorson, a four-star Northwestern University recruit, is using 7-on-7 practice over the summer to work back from a broken collarbone suffered in last year's second-round playoffs, the Suburban Life reports.

According to the paper, the 7-on-7 format provides an excellent format for a spread-offense slinger like Thorson to familiarize himself with a mostly new receiving corps, as well as to get competitive practice against unfamiliar secondaries.

“It’s good to get out there and go against other competition,” Thorson told the paper. “Obviously there are no linemen and such but you can go out there and throw the ball around... You can work on your timing and everything and get that really honed down. And you can work on footwork and routes.”

Thorson, a 6'4", 190-lb Rivals.com "four-star" QB, committed to Northwestern in March. He is known as a multi-threat player, able to play multiple offensive positions throwing, running and catching.
