Wheaton Alum Named University Athletic Association Football Player of the Week

Case Western Reserve University senior Ryan Ferguson, a St. Francis High School alum, is named the University Athletic Association Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

Following a career-high 19-tackle effort this past Saturday, Case Western Reserve University senior linebacker and St. Francis High School alum Ryan Ferguson has been selected as the University Athletic Association Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week. He earns the UAA weekly honor for the second time in his career.

Ferguson racked up 19 tackles, including a career-best 15 solo stops, and made a key interception as the Spartans won 24-17 in overtime at Oberlin College.

For the season, the fourth-year Spartan leads the UAA and ranks in the top 20 in Division III with 81 tackles. He also has a forced fumble and four pass break-ups.

Last fall, Ferguson won the league tackles' title with 95 stops and was named first-team All-UAA. His first career UAA Player of the Week nod came after game one of the season when he posted nine tackles with both an interception and fumble recovery return for touchdowns in a win at John Carroll University.

Ferguson and the Spartans (4-3) begin defense of their UAA Championship this Saturday, October 27 at rival University of Chicago (Ill.) at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) at Stagg Field in "the windy city." Case Western Reserve was 3-0 in UAA play last season and has won four of the past five league titles.
