's undefeated football team won again Friday in its homecoming game against Glenbard East.

After spotting the Rams a score on the third play of the game, North stormed back with eight unanswered touchdowns to capture its third consecutive DuPage Valley Conference football game, 56-12, before a festive Homecoming crowd Friday night in Wheaton.

The Falcons (4-1 overall, 3-0 in the conference) were dominant in all three phases of the game in the opening half in which they scored on 5 of 7 offensive possessions and added a Jaylen Howze interception return to take an insurmountable 42-6 lead into the intermission.

Starting quarterback John Peltz romped 80 yards on a keeper on the second play after the break to induce a running clock in the one-sided affair.

The junior scored four rushing touchdowns and hit Johnny Daniels on a flanker screen for another score to frame the one-sided rout.
“I had great blocking downfield,” Peltz said of his last touchdown. “I couldn’t do it without those amazing blocks. We wanted to come out quick and firing.”

The Falcons did just that after Glenbard East (1-4, 0-3) surprised North with a 85-yard bomb and run between Joe Kotch and Mike Fahey three plays into the game.

“We knew they liked to run that route,” North coach Joe Wardzynski said.

But it was all Falcons in the aftermath of the Rams’ quick strike.
In less than three minutes to end the opening quarter, North scored three times to take a commanding 28-6 lead after the first period.
Mikey Sammer was in cruise control; the Falcons’ primary back, who finished with a game-high 118 yards on 16 carries, busted free for 43 yards for the Falcons’ second touchdown.

“We all really want to take one to the house,” said Sammer, who also added a long first-quarter punt return to set up another short score.
Howze had the first of his two interceptions on the ensuing Glenbard possession moments later, and Peltz called his own number from a yard out for the Falcons’ third first-quarter score.

The Falcons’ defense was equally punishing in the opening half, allowing only two first downs after the Rams’ long touchdown.
North sacked Kotch four times in the opening half and limited the Rams’ offense to 55 yards rushing on the night.

The starters’ night was over one possession into the third quarter when Peltz initiated the running clock with the last of his four scores on the ground.

“Defensively, we didn’t get off the field,” Glenbard East coach John Walters said of the nightmarish first half.

Coleton Hrgich capped the Falcons’ opulent offensive night with a 10-yard score on a quarterback keeper in the third quarter.
