Letter to the Editor: Two Prep Studs (Cousins) Belong to Two Wheaton Thunder FB Coaches

Wheaton resident Ray Smith writes about two major players on the Wheaton North football team.

It's not unique, but it is unusual, to have sons—first cousins even—of two football coaches starring on the same local high school team.

John Peltz is the standout junior quarterback for Wheaton North's Falcons, whose home turf incidentally is Jim Rexilius Field. (Wheaton College grad, the  late Coach Rex.) John's the son of Jeff and Nancy-Swider Peltz. The former is Defensive Line Coach of the Thunder and Nancy, of course, is a two-time Olympic speedskater. Both are in the Wheaton College athletic Hall of Honor.

Michael Swider is son of the College's Head Football Coach Mike Swider and (another) Nancy. He's the linchpin senior linebacker on the northside team that will be entering the state playoffs this week as co-champions of the DuPage Valley league despite losing its final game to arch-rival Wheaton-Warrenville South,  head coached by Wheaton College grad Ron Muhitch.

So what makes you think the Thunder just may have a shot one day at suiting these two lads in Orange & Blue?
